DONAHUE: If this is an enterprise that is worth the support of the American people? We need you at this rally on Saturday, Billy.

O'REILLY: I don't care. I'm not going to be there. DONAHUE: We need you out in front of it to be — to protest.

O'REILLY: Not going to be at the rally.

DONAHUE: There is no democracy without dissent.

O'REILLY: Not going to protest.

DONAHUE: You should be proud of people who stand up and dissent.

O'REILLY: I am. I respect your...

DONAHUE: A lot of fine men went and died to give me that freedom.

O'REILLY: All right. You got it. You got it. I respect your dissent. I think you're way off in your analysis of the war on terror.

DONAHUE: You want to send more people to die in Iraq? Is that — is that your position?

O'REILLY: I want to win the war in Iraq.

DONAHUE: Win. What does win mean? Tell me what win means. O'REILLY: It means those people have a chance at democracy. I've got to go.

DONAHUE: How long is that going to take?

O'REILLY: Got to go.

DONAHUE: How long is that going to take?

O'REILLY: Those people deserve a chance at freedom. Thank you for coming in.

Snip~~

There are two rules for guests here on "The Factor." No slander and no personal accusations without facts to back them up. If the guest violates those rules, they are scolded by me and will not be invited back. And only a few have violated the rules.

Now let me give you some examples of slander. Actor Danny Glover (search) called President Bush a racist. That's slander. How about irresponsible allegations? Well, here's a letter from Carol I got today. She lives in Cleveland.

"O'Reilly, Phil Donahue cleaned your clock. He speaks the truth. There are many of us who, like Jeremy Glick (search), believe that George W. Bush orchestrated9/11 (search)."

Well, that's the kind of dopey stuff we try to keep off "The Factor." Sometimes we fail.

This interview shows why O'Reilly has the top-rated cable news show while Donahue's was canceled.

O'Reilly is a sad sad man.
Someone should point out to him that no matter how hard he bends over and takes it, he's never going to be invited to the other side of the glass ceiling - he should just get some morals and dignity and join the real fight.

What a pathetic person. The only thing worse than someone who abuses their power, is someone that will abuse themselves to want that power.

O'Reilly is just another whipping boy, i think he knows it too but tries to present an image of power by cutting off mics and grandstanding when it's pointed out to him which just makes him even more pathetic because it's obvious he can't handle the truth.

The right person could absolutly slaughter O'Reilly in a proper (non-fox) scenario and could probably even break him as a person given the chance to verbally put him in his place. Now that would be a no-spin zone.

I'm just tired of O'Reilly claiming his show isn't biased; and yet whenever I see clips of it, he's cutting off some liberal or anyone who basically holds a different opinion of him. He basically tells them to shut up, that they are a disgrace, and then goes to commercial.

Fair and balanced.

Despite that fact, substance is what I look for in a program, and what I found in that segment was the fact that donahue let him know it was 'unconstitutional' but bill being the pretend american patriot he likes to paint himself as, dismissed this fact, and tried to shout him down.

This is the biggest point I like to stick to, because I personally value the foundations of this country and stand beside the constitution so that when something like this occurs I know what is lawful and what is not, and bill just doesn't seem to give a rats ass, and neither do republicans who claim to be all for constitutional rights, but they speak out of both sides of their mouth and act in a total opposite way.

I don't care if donahue's show got cancelled it's what he had to say about this subject that I happen to agree with because he mentioned how unlawful this war is. but you don't care and thats why i find republican's getting more ignorant as the days go by. Clueless, just clueless people acting like they know it all and try and make their points look big by trying to justify the actions of this administration even though the founding fathers would probably kick their asses to the moon.

Regardless of the positions, Donahue deserves respect from all these clowns today as the father of the topical news audience participation talk show. He won landmark cases to have the format identified as a "bona fide news program" and was the first to routinely "take a call" or stick a microphone in a regular joe's face and not only ask him what he thinks, but ask him to directly ask guests (like Presidential candidates) hard questions that only a regular person can.

None of the joker's today including O'Really deserve to shine his shoes.

Jeremy Glick came on this program and accused the president of the United States of orchestrating 9-11. That's what he did. Right in -- after 9-11 happened. Do you know what [sic] the pain that brought the families who lost people in 9-11?

Jeremy Glick didn't say Bush orchestrated 9-11.
Here is the transcript

Glick:

"Our current president now inherited a legacy from his father and inherited a political legacy that's responsible for training militarily, economically, and situating geopolitically the parties involved in the alleged assassination and the murder of my father and countless of thousands of others."

Glick was incorrect in claiming that the president's father, George H.W. Bush, was CIA director while the U.S. funneled support to the anti-Soviet Afghan forces. CIA assistance to the Afghan fighters began in 1979; Bush was CIA director from 1976 to 1977. However, Bush was vice president under President Reagan, whose administration dramatically increased aid to the anti-Soviet Afghan forces during the early 1980s. The State Department and the CIA maintain that this aid went only to ethnic Afghans, and not to "Afghan Arabs" such as Osama Bin Laden.

O'Reilly was wrong, as was Glick

O'Reilly is such a drama queen. That's the reason his show is so popular. It's like the Jerry Springer Show. The more controversy and emotional drama that can be generated, the better the ratings, and then people assume that because he has a popular show, that he's 'good'. In my opinion, it's a cheap way to get ratings.

I've always liked Phil Donahue. I don't know why he'd go on O'Reilly's show in the first place, though. What's his intent? To make Bill look bad? To enlighten the Fox audience? Forget about it.

I thought they were going to start throwing chairs!

I can't stand either of them. They both are lousy.
Donahue is a has-been lousy.
O'Reilly is a current lousy.

As someone who hates them both I can give an honest
assessment of who 'won'. O'Reilly did. Donahue turned
the show and made it an interview of O'Reilly at one point
which was a snazzy thing to do. But the purpose of the
show was to interview Donahue and for him to give REASONS
for his position. Which he failed to do. Miserably.

Donahue is a has been and has no credibility since he leans so
far to the left he can't stand up straight.

O'Reilly usually doesn't interview people, he just invites them
on and then ponitificates at them.

I had to take some aspirin after seeing (hearing) them!

It was a waste of time.

What pisses me off about O' is that he says you have the final word then after that he talks some # once he boots his guests, he is an ass ape.
