Mice Infected With Bubonic Plague Missing

Three mice infected with the bacteria responsible for bubonic plague apparently disappeared from a laboratory about two weeks ago, and authorities launched a search though health experts said there was scant public risk.

The mice were unaccounted-for at the Public Health Research Institute, which is on the campus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and conducts bioterrorism research for the federal government.

Federal official said the mice may never be accounted for. Among other things, the rodents may have been stolen, eaten by other lab animals or just misplaced in a paperwork error.

If the mice got outside the lab, they would have already died from the disease, state Health Commissioner Fred Jacobs said.

wow nice going. you would think the mice carrying the bubonic plague would be under more survillance than the presidant.

i would hate to be the person that had to report that problem...............

scientist: that means run fast in sparatic patterns sir.

boss: i see, of course. well we need to find those mice STAT!

scientist: we have looked everywhere sir. i dont know what else we can do.

boss: this is a matter of our nations health...thousands could die. i will contact the president and see if he will sign a bill to give us 1 billion dollars for the purchase of various forms of cheese. we are bound to catch them..and many more for further experiements

scientist: sir i really dont think that is a good idea to cover the nation with cheese!!

boss: then we have no other choice...

scientist: and what other choice would that be?

boss: to infect you with the bubonic plague and use you for observation instead
