Just when you thought it couldn't get any more gruesome & corrupt, FEMA engages a company with a history of body dumping and desecration of graves.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has hired Kenyon International to set up a mobile morgue for handling bodies in Baton Rouge, Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina, RAW STORY has learned.

Kenyon is a subsidiary of Service Corporation International (SCI), a scandal-ridden Texas-based company operated by a friend of the Bush family. Recently, SCI subsidiaries have been implicated in illegally discarding and desecrating corpses.

Louisiana governor Katherine Blanco subsequently inked a contract with the firm after talks between FEMA and the firm broke down. Kenyon's original deal was secured by the Department of Homeland Security.

In other words, FEMA and then Blanco outsourced the body count from Hurricane Katrina -- which many believe the worst natural disaster in U.S. history -- to a firm whose parent company is known for its "experience" at hiding and dumping bodies.

Couple that with a pretty low "official" body count and what do you have?

I can't remember where I saw it, but I'm pretty sure someone claimed that they were cremating bodies.

Yeah this is one of my favorite stories about Bush and the way the press did not ever mention it proves how manipulated and controlled they really are. When I heard that the company picking up the bodies was hired I could not help but wonder if it was the same company, great post and thanks for answering my question for me.

Here's a new chapter in an old scandal involving a Bush contributor and longtime family friend, Robert Waltrip. This time it's the desecration of dead bodies, and George W. Bush is directly linked to this scandal (as is former FEMA director Joe Allbaugh, GW's Chief of Staff while governor of Texas). According to Fox News, Waltrip's company, a cemetery company called Service Corporation International (also known as Dignity Memorial) was "recycling" graves, removing the bodies that were there originally and throwing them in the woods to use the space to house new customers at two Jewish cemeteries in Florida.

You could imagine a body count being well below actual numbers with bodies that aren't claimed or who don't have people looking for them, basically not being counted.

Why would the government want a 1000 homeless people added to the total if no one has or would come forth to claim the loss of that person?

It's a very easy thing to cover up, the total will most likely be baised around people claimed rather than bodies found.

I'm so sick of the media. I'm completely convinced now that our media is totally controlled. From the big guys, to Reuters press wires.. on down.

Maybe you could add a few more but there are only two reasons for reducing the official body count I can think of...
1. (Most obviously): To reduce the political fallout for the shambolic way the hurricane disaster was and still is been handled. This would be a follow up approach on the logic used for not counting dead Iraqi civilians.
2. But there's another (and in my view bigger) reason.
FEMA has spent most its money on anti terrorist measures. I believe Alaska (it was some State begging with A) has received the most money because there's a bio-chemical suit for every person in its police force (despite the fact the state is by no means a prime terrorist target).
Now if Hurricane Katrina was shown to have killed more people than 9/11 this would show the government’s terrorist fear of terrorism, to be the inflated obsession that it really is. Most of us know that lobbying from the defence industry corrupts U.S politics. Well when you think about it; who makes these bio-chemical suits? (Or just about any other equipment for terrorist defence?) It’s the defence sector of course.
If Katrina was shown to have killed more people than 9/11 it could cause the public to demand public spending that was more proportional towards protecting against threats that actually threaten people’s lives.
This would undoubtedly be good for America. Think about it: safer roads, better flood defences, maybe even more money for drug rehabilitation programmes to save both the people harmed by criminals and the criminals themselves. BUT it wouldn’t suit the defence sector at all. And you can't say "well the government should just increase public spending across the board" because the tax rises would annoy all big businesses; and for that matter many American citizens too.
This is why the American government be it Democrat or Republican must work to keep the death tolls from natural disasters down. Because failure to do so could draw comparisons that would threaten policy changes that would really the people who finance their candidates as well as the media in their favour.
In itself it’s not such a problem for the death toll to rise and inflame peoples anger a little more regarding New Orleans. As Stalin once said "kill one and it’s a tragedy, kill a million and it’s a statistic". Regarding public manipulation he's right. But if the statistic threatens a whole way of thinking then it’s a problem (in this case a tragedy for the Arms industry at least).

That said; all we have to go on is a company known to be “bad” at respecting the dead been given the job of respecting the New Orleans dead. Oh and a few “questionable” companies like Halliburton been handed out contracts to reconstruct Iraq and err, New Orleans! There’s more evidence of course but that’s as much of what I know of which is directly relevant.

Of course, if the American public were to be informed of the impending deaths that will eventually be brought to light begotten by this Hurricane, and outright decrying of governmental officials would occur, and that at all levels, including federals, and this does not nessecarily denoted to the federal government be accountable, but do remember: hell hath no fury like the American public scorn.

Oops! Sorry for the repost. I did do a search to see if it had already been posted but must've entered the wrong search criteria.

Mods, please feel free to delete this thread or merge the two. I don't want to clutter the board or detract from the original thread in any way.

Good to see it being followed up

Absolutely. Its basically because of a mix between advertiser/political friendship-conflicts of interest, not to mention capitalism and profit greed cutting back on investigative journalism, they simply don't care. They just report and comment on what they are fed.

No wonder the world is so screwed.

I somehow think we need a Subscriber 24-hour news channel with no ads that costs say $2 a month or something (like HBO but cheaper) that does proper journalism and isn't bound by advertising revenue, or political interests.

This is huge, and really outlines an ongoing conspiracy with the covering up of the aftermath of katrina.
