People have been suggesting that global warming, or climate change, is just a scare tatic and propaganda. To scare people into what exactly? Into buying more solar panels and recyling more. While the price of solar panels aren't cheap, what is it supposed to scare us into?

Other than factory's installing filters (which many still havn't, so no major cost there), what is this 'scare tatic' supposed to scare us into?

It supposed to scare us into a distributed decentralized power grid where homeowners can produce power at peak usage hours to offset their costs and reduce strain on the system. It's supposed to scare us into polluting less and recycle more, drive less or drive more fuel efficient vehicles(Actually Gas prices is doing that fine already)

The motives behind the "scare tactics" will end up benefitting humanity in the end. We are on the road to a Type 1 Civilization, we're almost there but not quite.

But the whole "Global Warming Scare" is moot anyhow because of the current crisis we are entering(Peak Oil). When Gas prices spike and stay high for a while, increased attention is payed to alternatives and thusly more R&D money starts to get allocated.

Here is a good link documented all the work currently going in sustainable technologies.

Global warming is a tool for the socialist of the world to have an excuse to centralized and socialize every piece of commerece in order to prevent such dissasters as Katrina which were obviously caused by global warming.

Well, for example ...

The Kyoto protocol limits greenhouse gas emissions to try to counter "globalwarming", which means it limits usage of resources, which means it, among other things, slows down technological development. Among other things being developed are alternative energysources and fuels.

What would happen to the oil companies if a cheap, effective, renewable and environmentally friendly fuel/energysource were to be invented? They'd go bankrupt.
But now they can without too much fear raise the oil prices (I'd imagine this too slows down development), because there is no substitute for oil at the moment, and the current world economy will not survive without a cheap energysource like oil.

Another thing gov'ts and elites gain from the globalwarming scare is more control. They also get more of that via other scares, like terrorists.

Fear is a powerful tool.

I think its a bit over rated, but this is a good thing.
I think it should be even more over rated so we can use alternative fuel, such as ethonol. Then when the oil does run out, we won't be totally screwed.

I also think that fuel wont run out for quiet awhile, but before it does we will have switched to alternative fuel and power sauces, while only things that really need oil, like Jet engines, and lubricants will still be plain old oil.

Can jet engines run on ethonol???, I think it shouldn't be a problem.
The fuel lines and seals would need to be made of a differant material and the Turbine at the rear of the engine might need to be coated of something else

easy to explain there is some money to make off it but its short lived.take alook at the weather animals in the food chain that are sick you dont need to look to far.humans dont care about there planet.earth has a timeline to follow.there is no fear in this its only nature.global warming is just one thing that will remove us from this earth.the burning of oil has sped up the process abit.dont we want to invent our shelf out of this.yep but i dont see much effort.the task is very large and with larger bigger hurricanes floods temp drops will increase over the years.good luck tryin to convince us all that its just going away.healing it shelf.thats a joke right?

They want us to think that global warming is caused by man, rather than by the sun getting unusually active for no apparent reason. That way, since its man's fault, man can correct it. This of course requires one world gov't heavily controlling everything, which is what they want. If they admit its mostly the sun, people (some anyway) will legitimately ask how global gov't is supposed to help at all to calm down the sun.

Decentralized and distributed with local regions producing nearly everything they need is the only way to go in the long run, not the other way around.
