I was riding home on the bus from high school yesterday. My high school is in the middle of nowhere and we leave the city to get there.

As we were entering the city again I saw a welcome to *&#@$% sign. (Not gonna say the cities's name due to safety purposes) Under it is list of clubs and organizations such as 4-h and the elks lodge. Well on of them was the masonic symbol.

I had no idea what it was at the time so I started making a drawing of it from memory. When I showed it to one of my friends he told me what it was and started into a long rant about the masons and how they were a evil cult thing.

I listened to him at first and almost took it to heart. This did not happen though once I got home and began to ponder the information. I knew it was stupid to just accept what he said without more info.

So I came here. I have been a long time lurker (though mainly in the cryptozoology section) and now I wish to start making regular posts. I would like many of you to post any information you may know, links to reputable sites with information, and your own opinions on the subject.

There are many of us here who are Freemasons, and we are not an evil cult. The ATS search function SHOULD be the first palce you look, as there are literally THOUSANDS of threads on this topic. if you want some good information, check out these sites:

Good luck.

The Grand Lodge of of Masons of New York contributed $1,000,000 to a fund to be used exclusively to aid and assist the families of the members of the New York City Police Department, New York City Fire Department, EMS personnel and employees of the Port Authority of the State of New York and New Jersey who lost their lives in the horrific events of September 11th. Additionally Masonic lodges throughout the country have contributed both financially and through efforts such as blood donations.

They even advertise on how good they are!

Hope you find what you are looking for! But to really know about masonry you'll have to join up!

Wasn't it YOU who claimed that even members of the Craft couldn't possibly know what truly goes on at the non-existant "higher levels"? Get real...

Thanks for the links. I have them saved and have already read through one. I really enjoyed reading it, though I have not formed an opinion yet on the subject.

I hope more people post links or give opinions. I would also like to hear anti masons opinions on the subject. I like knowing both sides of an arguement. (
I don't think my friend was the greatest source for that information.)

Either way I don't believe I'll join either end of the debate. I don't like being in groups and organizations and being alone is what I prefer. Also I don't believe in hatred toward any group of people on what they stand for or their beliefs. I could care less even if a group of people were sacrificing bunnies as long as I don't have to see it.

I admire the fact that you have taken it upon yourself to find out more information and not take someone's one sided view.

I will say that there are many Mason's here on this board that will gladly answer just about any question you may have about Masonry. The only exception are things we consider private. Nothing nefarious mind you, just things like modes of recognition and the like (not unlike any other fraternity).

I will warn you that during your search, you will run across a number of people, not unlike your friend, that think they know more about the Mason's than the actual members.

My best advice for you would be search this forum, ask question and investigate the links others have provided. Then after compiling all that information make up your mind.

That being said, I've been a member of the Mason's for a number of years. I can only say good things about the Craft. Our "catch phrase" (if you will) is Making good men, better.

Like I said read the links, and if you still have questions, fire away.

Fascinating that anti-Masonry and anti-semitism seem to go hand in hand.

No, Freemasony was and still is used by the corrupt. Freemasonry is not the evil empire of this world. But it is being used. Just another tool in the shed to further push an agenda that most masons aren't "tuned in" to. So step back into reality, and realize that there are those who you do not see, and those who do see do not tell. Get that straight.

A question for you, and you alone.

On entering the city you saw from the bus a Welcome sign, with the insignias and names of a number of service clubs and organizations appended to it.

This would be quite a universal experience, with the representation of such "cults" as Rotary, Lions, Apex, Kiwanis, the Scout movement, Freemasonry, Toastmasters, Zonta, Church spin-offs and any number of other locally represented organizations contributing to said sign and "Welcome Committee", all around the world.

Just what was it that made the Masonic symbol stand out for you?

One thing I always look for when travelling across Ontario, is the service club signs. I'm always happy to see that there are brother Knights in the town or city that I am entering, and should I need any assistance, I can turn to any of the Knights of that town to help me out. A great part of being part of a fraternal order, is this true brotherhood, that membership in the order knows no strangers.

That is a nice red tag you have.

Tell me, did this pearl of wisdom share in the ceremony when you were awarded that?

I am sorry, I have not availed myself of the opportunity to view this erstwhile contribution to ATS in context.

It would seem that when entering the city of ATS, there is a variety of worthy, worshipful and warranted (and unwarranted) badges that greet the new visitor.

Well that was the first time I have actually looked upon the thing in several years. Most of the clubs or organizations I already could recognize by their symbols so when I noticed that one of them I was not familiar with I just decided to find out about it. It kinda sparked a need to know more about it. That happens quite a bit to me.

Sigh... once again I'll ask you (and maybe once again you'll conveniently ignore me): can you post evidence of these things you claim as being a fact? If not, then why do you state it as a fact?

Yes. Verfiable, documented examples of Freemasonry being used would not hurt your case, champ. In fact, if you can't do that, you have no case, and are wasting everyone's time.

What's really silly is that anyone who even has a basic understanding of how a Masonic lodge works would realize that this is not possible.

"Used" for what purpose by these evil powers that be? Certainly not anything that we're doing in the lodge. Maybe those yearly college scholarships my lodge gives out to worthy local high school students has some sinister purpose, but I don't see it.

Maybe you think that the miniscule amount of money for yearly dues goes to some "evil organization"? I can see where every dollar of the yearly dues for my lodge go, and it's certainly not going to anything but maintaining the lodge building and related expense, charity, and to the Grand Lodge for the state of KY (and I can see how they spend the money too, FYI).

The blood drives are really "food drives" for the Reptilian Overlords... it's less messy than the human sacrifices at Buckingham Palace...

DAMN!

Did I say that out loud?
