Vote for the Best Heavy Metal Band of All Time

I would have to lean towards Sabbath, because without Ozzy none of the current pseudo-metal bands out there could even squiggle onto the charts, let alone land a hit. He was doing the unthinkable onstage long before anybody else paving the way for future acts to follow and emulate. Health problems or not there is and will only be one Ozzy.

My favorite metal band would have to be Meshuggah. \m/

Would have to be Iron Maiden. I grew up listening to them and they stood the test of time. if i was to put together a top 5 list

1. Iron Maiden
2. Judas Priest
3. Manowar
4. Black Sabbath
5. Motley Crue

I say Metallica, because they have probably brought it to more people than any other modern act and Led Zep...they invented it!!!

JUDAS PRIEST is coming to my town in October, 2005! Talk about justice....I started this thread when I heard about Rob Halford and Judas priest reuniting and, as some fort of Metal Justice, I have been rewarded by the Metal Gods coming to London, ON Canada!

I would say metallica hands down.

Judas Priest is pretty tough to beat, but I'm gonna have to say Metallica for overall significance and songs, if only for One and Master of Puppets.

These days, I'd have to go with Disturbed.

Of the new guys I would say disturbed is the best.

Metallica has always been one of my favorites, but there are so many good metal bands. Priest, Sabbath, Slayer, Maiden, and some of the newer metal acts like Lamb of God, Nile, Children of Bodom. It's hard to decide but I'll go with MetallicA.

Well, I would have to say Metallica... then Motley Crue (Cause they're the one who got me into metal!) Then the early Guns n Roses.

A lot of good bands have been mentioned... I can't pick a favorite, but I'm gonna go with a three-way tie between Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin, with Gwar, Blue Oyster Cult, and the collaborative band/concept album Aina tied for second.

But that's just my opinion; I may be wrong.

With all respect to Led and Sabbath, I would go with Metallica for being the best. It was Metallica that brought heavy metal to the maintstream because they were that damn good. No other album can't touch master of puppets.
