Yes, a comparison I have often made myself. Rome=America.

The lack of honor or morale in the military. And our forces are becoming more and more contracted out to civilians. Once army jobs are now being increasingly run by civilians. Soon we will contract out our infantry pioistions to private merc companies, if this keeps up.

America from within: corrupt leaders, our empire becoming overstretched and thinned out, society de evolving into decay, apathy of the citizens, bread and circus for all, people in a permanenet state of Duh......

And "barbarians at the fringes slowly picking away at us piece by piece.
