Well, just like I figured it, it was an 18 year old kid that created the "Blaster" worm... Unfortunately for him he got BUSTED today.

Seems somebody saw him testing its effectiveness and narked him out to the man...

They better make an example of this guy. Life in prison, I think, without parole.

i thought the the person would be late 20s or something. He was probably some wanna be hacker, if he was intelligent, he would have never been caught.

Like Zzub said..."make an example outta him".
Cut his fingers off. Or send him my way and let me deal with him.

yes life in prison will do him some good. and taking every last penny he earns in his adult life to make restitution for all the work that went into fixing this problem.

and of course him being 18 year old computer geek will be like throwing a piece of meat to a cage of hungry lions...they're going to enjoy the "fresh meat" for sure!

it might also make others think twice about doing this themselves.

lol i'd love to see the look on his face the first time he drops the soap and has to pick it up.

talk about a kodak moment! priceless!

they should ban him from every touching a computer for life. if he was smart he wouldn't of got caught. When someone writes a virus and it spreads wide, they better make sure they don't get caught

He wasn't the originator of the original version of the "blaster" worm, he created a variant of it that affected nearly 7,000 computers. Although it wasn't the original worm and didn't affect anywhere near the number of pc's as the original, it's believed to be more harmful.

From REUTERS:

Investigators do not suspect the unidentified man as the creator of the original Blaster worm, the Seattle Times said.

Instead, they suspect he altered the worm into the so-called B-variant, which does more harm than the original that bored into computers through a weak spot in the Microsoft MSFT.O Windows operating system, the paper reported.

The creator of the original Blaster worm has not yet been found, said the Times.

So it was some 18 year old that brought so much crap on the system probably was a small time hacker wanting to make a name for himself (which he now has done), but putting him away wont solve the problem really!

Even if he gets a few years and has to stay away from computers while he's inside, he will be out some day and back.

For everyone they catch, there's probably 50 more taking his place.

There's got to be another way of getting around these idiots, and trying to put a stop to them once and for all?

But what, how and by who is just more questions!

guess how they caught him? the virus signed his victims up to his own website so he can keep track on them lol he didn't even write the virus, he just copied it and changed afew bits. He ain't even a hacker or a virus maker, he is just some lame kid who wants to be some super hacker

Punishments should never be designed so as to 'make an example' out of someone. They must be written, and acted on, in reasonable proportion to what act they are in response to. 'Making an example' automatically implies a bias in sentencing...

i dont care if he helped little old ladies cross the street and was an eagle scout. throw the book at him and then throw him UNDER the prison and not let him see sunlight until he needs to wear diapers again.

make an example out of his sorry ass. "i was just joking" isnt a good enough excuse. people are suppose to think before acting.

claiming ignorance doesnt work either.

maybe after he picks up the soap a few times he'll understand why its a good thing to stay on "the straight and narrow" instead of this stupid "do what feels good to you" road so many choose to take.

he isn't that smart, used a virus that was already out there and changed afew lines. He was stupid to make the virus sign up victims to his site, sent the fbi straight to him. A smart kid would write their own code and wouldn't even have the virus goin to his site.
