Check out these IPA's submitted by Monsanto of St. Louis.

If you read into these applications, Mosanto is applying to Patent the breading of pigs.

From artificial insemination applications to natural breading.

It looks like this, if these patents are issused to Monsanto, any breading of pigs world wide would be under the control of Monsanto.

Which mean a global per pig royalty to Monsanto.

Monsanto gets to pick and choose which type of pig is allowed to breed and how it is inseminated, that's if Monsanto allows you to breed your stock.

Monsanto just gets creepier and creepier. I don't care what any patent apologist says but Biological patents should be severely limited in timeframes to prevent the inevitable abuses.

Patents on biological processes should be limited and strictly regulated. Period. Sounds similar to what a US Drug company tried to do with the Neem Leaf a few years ago. It's use has been recorded in Ayurvedic texts for over 2000 years, yet when these companies come along, and extract an active ingredient, they patent it. It would have made commercial operators in India that sold Neem based cures liable for royalties, but the Indian govt objected strongly.
