I just found a website on the history of Strategic Air Command. On the site is a really neat section about General Curtis Lemay, the man who make SAC
the powerful militray force that it is known as. In addition to the work he did as the CinC SAC, he was also the USAF chief of staff for many years.
He also hold the national record for the longest time spent on active duty at the rank of General! Check it out:
