Around 6 pm a large explosion occurred at the BP refinery in Texas City, TX. Yes, this is the same plant we heard about a few months ago where several people were killed.

TEXAS CITY, Texas -- An explosion and fire occurred at a Texas City refinery Thursday evening, frightening nearby residents who vividly remember the blast in March that killed more than a dozen workers, Local 2 reported.

The blast happened at the BP plant shortly after 6 p.m.

"There was a boom after the sirens went off -- a large explosion. It did shake our neighbor's house, my house and the surrounding houses. It was strong enough to where you could feel it and hear it, but it wasn't as strong as the one in March," said a witness who lives two blocks from the plant.

Seems to be a popular day for plant explosions. From the footage on the news, it does not appear to be very big fire. The fire seems to be under control, and so far there are no reports of injuries. I have lived in Houston for 6 years now, and every few months something like this happens. Lets hope this one is a minor incident and nobody is hurt.

This coincides with the thread I just put up..

How exposed are our chemical facilities?

A study by the Army surgeon general, conducted soon after 9/11, found that up to 2.4 million people could be killed or wounded by a terrorist attack on a single chemical plant.

In February 2003, the government's National Infrastructure Protection Center warned that chemical plants in the United States could be al-Qaida targets.

Three hours after initial explosion, fire still is burning but under control.
No reports of injuries.

Explosion is at a different area of plant from the one in March that killed 15 people. Still no report on cause.

Well they finally got us. The terrorists. 2 plant explosions in the same day. I remember when the first plane hit the WTC. I thought wow what a horrible tragic accident. When the second plane hit, I knew something was wrong and that we were under attack.

Why would the OIL Industry cover up? Doesn't Bush want fear? No, why would he? He already used fear to get a second term, rush us into war with Iraq, and Pass Patriot Acts II. He doesn't need to use fear anymore, It already served his purpose.

Whats more important than keeping Americans in fear? MONEY. If the news reported that this was a terror attack against American Oil Companies the people would pull money out of OIL company stock because the investers would fear more attacks aimed at OIL. that would seriously hurt the stock market and ESPECIALLY all of BUSH's personal friends and Family in the OIL business.

Ever consider that the explosions are an inside job? Maybe they are attempting to sabotage their own equipment. Why? If they lose a refinery the price of gas will go sky high. Less work to do and a much bigger profit margin. Oil companies around the US would stand to make hundreds of millions of dollars more if not billions more if a refinery was lost.

Modernize they entire building that blows up.

Its a Win Win situation. Why didn't bush think of this.

How about a real mind twister, a real "think outside the box" thing..

that terrorism is real and not a creation of current Administration as the knee jerk partisanistas need it to be? If this is anything other than an accident due to cost cutting on maintenance or pushing production too high to try to maximaze profit at a risk, then maybe, just maybe (and I'm going out on a limb here) terrorists would be attacking targets to cripple infrastructure and do things that don't fit into the "evil profitmongering Bush" mindset.

I understand the need for comfort and security, even when it's an illusion. Some turn to ineffective and dangerous legislation like the Patriot Act. Others, need to delude themselves into thinking terrorism is a controlled, known quantity that they've assigned to (what they've been programmed to think is) their greatest enemy.

But spending intellectual effort to justify every terrorist attack into the partisan divisionist hatred, is a dangerous illusion. Doesn't anyone bother with Occam's Razor anymore?
