A fire broke out at an oil platform off the west coast of India on Wednesday after an oil rig collided with it, officials said.
The oil platform in the Bombay High offshore oil field produces 100,000 barrels per day, the chairman of platform owner Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd.
(ONGC) said.
Another ONGC official said rescue operations were underway, but he did not say how many people could be trapped. Television reports said many people
had jumped into the sea.
