Get a life, and learn the facts you idiot!

"...God cast Lucifer and his followers out of heaven and to earth to become...get this...Black People. "

Not even remotely true. Mormons believe that all those cast out of heaven are unembodied spirits and are now demons and members of Satan's army of devils.

"Here's another one. The founder of the Mormon religion, who found a 'manuscript' "

Where did you get this stuff? He claimed to have found golden plates, with engravings on them.

"...claims that there are a few parts in the book of mormon that were translated wrong..."

No major translation revisions have been done. There have been gramatical revisions and such, but the church claims that no major ideological changes have been made.

"a friend of mine, my youth pastor, incidentally translated the original manuscript (he knows Hebrew) he says that the Book of mormon is a verbatim translation. "

Once again get a life and get the facts. Smith claimed The book of Mormon was originally written in a new language called Reformed Egyptian, that nobody had seen before or since. Also only he and a few other people saw the plates themselves before they were convienently taken back by the angel that delivered them, and they were never seen again.

"...This, to me shows the Mormon Religion to be unreasonable, and not a very good spreader of the love of Jesus."

If you are going to make claims, be sure you know what you are talking about.

Okay now, I hate mormons as much as the next guy but, you got a few facts wrong.
I was born and raised in the heart of Utah, in a small town a few miles away from Brigham Young University. I had the good fortion though, to be raise an athiest. I've had to deal with the LDS church my whole life and I know alot about it.
Here's a few of the things you said which are wrong:

1) Your friend could not have translated anything from the "original text", Joseph Smith was given the "original text", in the form of golden plates, by the angel Moroni. He then translated the plates directly into english and, upon completion, the plates were supposedly returned to heaven.
There are no copies of The Book of Mormon in the "original" text. The english version is the closest you'll come.

2) The symbol for the LDS Church is not a pentagram. I have been to several LDS services in my life and there is no pentagrams on the book of mormon.

Other than that, everything you just said is true.

What I think is that the Mormons/ Jehovas Witnesses/ Whoever should be allowed to knock your door and ask you for their time...

Why not? You know, the government could save millions (if not billions) of dollars every year by just letting them deliver the mail...

Strange...I've made extensive studies about ancient Egypt & I've never heard of any "Reformed Egyptian" until now...I've only known about the hieroglyphic Egyptian & Coptic Egyptian. Unless someone has been able to peel back more than two-thousand years of time-travel, Egyptian language hasn't been heard by human ears since that time.

Unfortunately, I happen to live about a block from a Mormon Church: Last time a couple of them came knocking on my door, my wife & I had to get the dogs into another room. As some dogs are, they kept barking while my wife kept an eye on them & I answered the door. I tried to get rid of them politely but they didn't seem to want to take "no" for an answer. Basically, I wound up telling them to excuse me for a moment & turned my head, yelling to keep those neighbors' dogs quite for teh sacrifice...Then I turned back to them and asked them to continue. I haven't seen them around my door since...

wow. Thanks for the flame.

Anyways. I posted that tired, and more than a little drunk. Details are hazy, yes. However, If you're going to sit there and tell me that the Mormon religion is not a steaming pile of bull#, I'm going to have to disagree, vehemently.

Why is the symbol on the book of mormon a pentagram, a symbol long associated with wiccans, a group of witchcraft practitioners?

And how does your claim of me being wrong about black people make it any better? just because how it started is different, doesn't mean that it's okay. Discrimination like that is still a pile of horse #.

And I'd appreciate it if you'd point things out more politely next time. I don't appreciate being flamed. Especially by people I don't know. Thanx. Peace.

The mormon have strange ideas for sure.

But most of them are clean living which is not bad.

I feel sorry for them more than anything.

Some believe they are run by the lizards and they were told all that crap by them.

Mormon leaders are evidently limited by their own personal prejudices and biases. Despite all they claim, they are only men, limited by the same prejudices and biases that we all posses.

As for the limits they impose on themselves, they claim that limiting the "Natural Man" is the way to true happiness. Limiting the body, they say, frees the spirit. They fast once a month for at least trwo meals for this purpose.

btw... I have met mormons who were converts (i.e. normal people who adopted the mormon religion) who were halfway likeable individuals. It seems to be the bunch from Utah who are strange to the extreme. Anyone else notice this trend?

There is a new book out about Mormons by John Krakauer. I believe it is called Under the Banner of Heaven. Krakauer has previously written such bestsellers as Into Thin Air and Into the Wild. I am not in the mood to talk about the hypocrisy of the mormon faith, but I advise you to check out this book. Maybe I will come back once a mod moves this thread.

I seriusly don't se the need for alot of their beliefs- though i'd like to understand their ideas about electrical instruments and why they are not allowed to use them on certain days/times etc ....
I think you are confusing mormons with menonites... I was not aware mormons had some anti eletrical practices..

Hang on there if The book of Mormon was originally written in a new language called Reformed Egyptian, that nobody had seen before or since, how then does your youth pastors knowing how to read hebrew prove anything? Only those able to read reformed egyptian and with access to the original writings can know that for certain.
Just saying.
