AP Photo of Iran President as hostage taker. Fake ?

my theory is that...

the photo is fake... whoever did this altered the images so that the figure looked more like the President, but the body they chose to paste a face onto was not correct... as the BBC has noticed, the man is just too tall to be the president, way too tall.

but why?

my best guess is that this is a psy-op, intended to fool the world into villifying the new Iraninan President... i mean just look where this story came from... 5 ex-hostages one of which was CIA in Iran... I knew Bush would start a campeign to villify the new President of Iran... how convenient this story is, now the Americans think this leader took some of them hostage, WMD and now fake mug shots... i gotta give the CIA credit for origionality...

This first picture hides the people behind the bushes.
The mans elbow against the mans head is an optical illusion. granted, it does look strange, but there is nothing out of place.

This is no different than a Man who was once a member ofthe KKK or the black Panthers later in life occupying a gov't office. Remember David Duke? Just because he didn't win, doesn't meant that someone with a background in militant politics is not someone who may occupy office.

What would it matter if this man was once part of that violent act. Ever think maybe he worked for the US back then also , and now it has come full circle, and there may be no war? There are numreous scenarios, but I feel there is nothing fake with that picture. Mistaken identity I could beleive, but no a doctored photo.

Besides, we need no 'reason' to go to war.

I have been looking further at the image, specifically the elbow that might have been protruding in front of the hostages head. Looking closer and tyding things up I think it is just coincidence.

In this image you can clearly see the folds on the hostages blindfold by the hostages left ear, which if viewed straight on would poke outwards. Noting where those folds are it gives the opportunity to see the elbow/upperarm portion of the figure in the background. So what of the bottom part of the bent arm, the forarm section? Attempting to clean the image resulted with this:

in which I think shows the truth of the image. It is just purely co-incidental placement of the two.

I think the original halo was just a product of the way the image was manipulated combined with the age and quality of the picture itself.

Here is a much newer and previously colour image I played with.

As you can see the same halo effect can be seen as was visible in the original, aslo the halo was not only visible around the suspected manipulated area;

Leading me to the conclusion that the image has not been doctored.

Ok, here's the problem I see. It looks like a fake, and I wouldn't put it past CIA Psyops to do such a thing; after all they did it with Oswald, and I believe that they did it with the Nick Berg beheading.

But if there are guys working for the CIA to make pictures like these, then you'd think they'd do a much better job. After all, these guys would be getting paid a LOT of money for their talents, and they know that the photo is going to be shown to the world and put to close scrutiny.

In literally under 5 minutes, I removed the halo and made it look more natural, and I am a Photoshop retard. Gimme 10 minutes and I could do even better. If the Psyop guys are this careless, maybe I should apply for a job! Take a trip to worth1000.com and you'll see the work of Photoshop hobbyists that could put GWB's head on this guy and make it look realistic.

Are you serious? You really think there is no similarity there??? Am I seeing a different picture?

Agreed, look at the nose. Even compensating for angle, those are two completely different noses... Plastic surgery is a possibility I suppose, but hardly necessary, given his later activities.

Whether or not he was one of those holding the hostages really isn't important. The man's resume' reads like a Who's Who of baddies, and you can be that NO good will come of this, and that this is playing right into Paladin Bush's hands..... and no, the original photo likely isn't fake...as explained, it's a common effect.

1. There's no glaring difference between the noses
2. Not only the angle, but you have to take into account that picture one was taken with a low quality camera 26 years ago.

Or i could say, the photo is real ENOUGH to not be able to be proven a fake.

Exactly! The nose looks wider in the original pic because there is no shadowing effect like there is in the 2nd. The eyes, the facial hair, the bone structure, the hair...it's all the same, just aged 25 yrs or so.

I think everyone posted enough information to say the photos are not faked....

they have confirmed that these people are not the same person...
they cite a noticable difference in height and appearance during that time. His school pictures look different than this man apparently...

also, they asked 4 of the original kidnappers (who have since reformed to the progressive side) and they said he is not the guy they worked with...

they would have every reason to try to harm his reputation... it would serve there interests as a progressive... good thing they were honest...
we know what the CIA would say...
