Israel is planning to build a sea barrier as an extension of its border with Gaza to prevent attackers from entering the country from the sea.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the structure will stretch 950m (yards) from the beach into the Mediterranean.

The main difference between this and the Berlin Wall is that the Berlin Wall was meant to keep East Germans imprisioned in their own country, while this is being built by Israel to protect its own border from dangerous foreign invaders.

If there's a history of people illegally crossing the border to commit murderous attacks on Israelis, the Israeli government has the duty and obligation to protect its citizens by securing the border.

I wish the U.S. government would build such a wall on our border with Mexico.

3. its not even their boarder to secure ( most of it )

The worst problem with the "generous offer" of Bush, Blair and Sharon, is that the designed palestinian territory is not economically viable, and will create instabilities for decades to come.

Because;
1. The Isreali's aren't provoking violence, they ae just living in their country which is leagally and rightfully theirs! It is the Arabs that have enchroached upon the Jewish lands and no the other way around. Also the arabs haev occupied most of the important places and with Isreal growing their is no place to accomodate Jewish famalies near the places of importance thus the echroachment!
2.Because it is the Palestianians that resort to violence and not the Isreali's. The Isreali's only retaliate. Also how much land does a wall take! Its not like the Great wall of China is it, its just this 20feet high and half foot wide wall!
Moreover the Isreali's are paying for it aren't they so they contribute as well!
3.They aren't only protecting the Isreali's from the Palestinians but also the Palestinians from smuggling weapons and explosives into Palestine! It is basically a preventive measure, to check arms supply. This way the Palestinians wont waste their money on buyin gguns instead they will use it to develope their land! they get billions in donations but they use very little to do anyworthwhile work and mostly concentrate on how to kill Isreali's .
Sad really, I've been to Isreal and seen these palestianians, the Isrealis give them jobs, housing, education and all basic amenities but they still hate the Isreali's, they have some magical dream that they can kill every single Isreali and somehow one day their will be no more isreali's and they can get their land back or something. They don't realise that no matter how hard they try they can acheive nothing by guns! Heck Gandhi fought off the British Empire half naked and starving! These guys should learn something from other revolutions!

For a country to become "economically viable" it needs foreign investors and foreign investors will NOT invest in a country that they see as a risk and its a fact that MOST countries with a Muslim majorities are unstable and are high risk.

Who in their right mind would invest in Palestine? Can you imagine what the stock-holders would do to you if you suggested it? Its an unstable country, run by THUGS and MURDERERS.

The israelis do not have an apartheid on the arabs living in isreal. They treat the people that they have conquered in the west bank 'roughly', but, well, tough noogies, don't surrender in a war.

Too bad. Maybe they shouldn't dance in the streets when there are people killed in terror attacks. Maybe they shouldn't've started a war, or at least not have lost it. If the palestinians are so upset, then they should march on israel.

Does it bother some of you that Israel is smarter than we here in America are? Our porous borders in America are not something other countries who face threats should take an example from.

We have zero control over who strolls right into our country. In case you hadn't noticed that causes problems. When your neighbor wants to kill you, you start to understand that it's not the appropriate time to put out the welcome mat. Perhaps after the roadmap is acheived things will change and no fence will be necessary. Until that point, I understand where they are coming from.

And yes, for the Palestinian people who have no involvement in the attacks, this does suck and isn't fair. Which is why I keep saying the following: If each side would stop bitching and complaining and address their own problems instead of blaming everyone else, there would be progress.

Small mindedness becomes very apparent when seeing members demonstrate the ability to blame only one side. If you're going to treat the subject unfairly, don't post here.

Actually the British Granted this land to the Israelis only due to the fact that there was no other "people" who had established a home nation. This was done even though the land was occupied by Palestinians. The British saw that the Israelis had "owned this land some 2000 years ago. By that thinking, Then ANY goverment can give the land that you occupy simply because someone claimed the land 2 centuries (or more). Forget teh part that you family is living there now. Forget the fact that your family may have occupied the land for generations. Out you go, you are now a nobody with no rights even to appeal to the UN!

It was also stated that the Israelis are not provoking violence, Where has everybody been over the last few decades. Yes there are numerous reports of Palestinians bombers blowing up various locations. What about the Israelis using M-16's against children aremed with rocks, What about the Israeli soldier who was recently found guilty of murdering a yound girl. What about the tanks and rockets that are used by the Israeli military against in many cases un-armed Palestinians?
Niether side is right on this but to out right state that the problem only lies with the Palestinians is lopsided to say the least.

1. The Israelis are living in someone else's land.
The Arabs were there for hundreds of years before the Jewish immigrants started to come back. Look at the partition map and you'll see that it's the Israelis that encroached upon land outside of their borders. mfa.gov.il

2. It's not about how wide the wall is, it's about how much land it blocks off.
