~Wow interesting story there dr. To tell you the truth I wouldn't know what to think at first if I woke up one morning just to find a huge lizard swimming in my pool. But if he were to kill a cat, I would have to take out a....... sorry I love cats. Hehe, thanks again dr.

That is a situation were the old tactic of empty the clip and let the lord decide takes over. If it is me or a giant lizard and I have a gun then that gigantic reptilian bugger is gettin' filled with as many holes as my trigger finger can pump into it. Heck I might even reload. Then again with a lizard that size I may have to reload.

They run pretty fast and swim long distances- i guess more than one shot would be called for - then again Steve Irwin simply climbed a tree and evaded 4 of them round a nest site - so killing a protected and endangered species might not be necessary

I imagine they would be rather difficult to kill... I come from a area where Gator hunting is not too uncommon... The preferred method is to allow one to swim along side (requires absolute stillness and silence) your boat and lean over, firing a single .22 round into the top of its head... however, if you shoot it anywhere else than the direct top of the head, you will need a much larger gun, and many more shots...
