Anybody have a clue what this grenade launcher is underneath the XM8?

www.socom3.com...

It looks like a 20mm, but I'm not sure.

Anybody?

Well, aside the fact that it's from a game, and so the designers probably took as much liberty as they wanted designing the thing to favor gameplay, and not realism, it looks to me like an HK XM8 with some kind of grenade launcher attachement. I would assume any grenade launcher that works on the G36, of which the XM8 is a derivative, would work on the latter...

Like this... (the top one!)

Rendered version of the OICW from the 90's. Testing revealed a bad flaw in the electric fused 20mm grenades...

...they had a tendency to explode in the barrel.

But I am sure the DVD commandos won't mind

Nope, it indeed is an XM8 (though badly rendered). My Source? My little 12 years old neighbour who is absolutely digging the SOCOM game series... He just recently spoke to me about the benefits his next games will have. When it comes to console games, he is as reliable as the Washington Post

But the XM8 has no provision for a grenade launcher of that configuration, which is why I said "rendered version".

It's just a game mate - not at all real. Let's leave it at that!

1. It's that mag looking thing under it that screwed me up. At 1st, I did think it was the M320.

2. Dude, "Socom 3" is suppose 2 have all realistic weapons and equipment. That's y I asked.

Tnx 4 the posts.

Im not sure...seems like they would at least standardize the round.

Now we use 40mm rounds for the MK19 and M203....I would guess that this would also be 40mm. Makes sense...I guess

That XM8 is such a sweet looking weapon. Would be interesting to see if they are "attainable", for private non military use.

It's a shotgun. That weapon lacks the addition sight (leaf sight) to be a useful grenade launch. Try using that to put a grenade through a window at 100 meters without good sights. A worthless 10 pounds of additional weight on the end of a good assault rifle.
