Is it possible to grow our food in underground complexes?

Why not grow our food in underground complexes,we could use artifitial light and pipe water in from rivers and lakes so we could maximize our crops by giving them the exact amount of light and water that they need.Wouldn't it solve problems like:

1.Bad weather or natural disasters wiping out crops
2.we wouldn't have to use pesticides or worry about insects
3.we could grow food year round without stoping for the winter.
4.with a growing population it could ease demand.
4.If war ever breaks out our food would be protected

It would take alot of funding but wouldn't they make there money back by growing year round as apossed to just for the summer?

The energy costs for artificial light, and the costs for building and maintaining the underground complexes would be much higher than all cost savings you described. Not to mention there are other risks underground like underground water, earthquakes etc...
It cannot be done with to plants but maybe in future it will be possible with some genetically engeneered biomass - that can be used for food preparation while growing in laboratories or underground complexes like you described..

Not to mention there are such structures able to stabilize the enviromental conditions for agriculture - they are called greenhouses..And they don't need to be underground...

The easiest way to do what you want it to use greehouses with black plastic around them. The energy costs are high, however when someone manages to get through a device that taps zero point energy (that actually exists) then you'll be able to do it no problems.
