Halliburton to Build New $30 Million Guantánamo Jail

Washington - A Halliburton Co. unit will build a new $30 million detention facility and security fence at the US naval base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, where the United States is holding about 520 foreign terrorism suspects, the Defense Department announced on Thursday.

The announcement comes the same week that Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld defended the jail after US lawmakers said it had created an image problem for the United States.

Critics have decried the indefinite detention of Guantánamo detainees, whom the United States has denied rights accorded under the Geneva Conventions to prisoners of war. The prison was called "the gulag of our times" in a recent Amnesty International report.

An air-conditioned two-story prison, known as Detention Camp #6, will be built at Guantánamo to house 220 men. It will include exercise areas, medical and dental spaces as well as a security control room, the contract announcement said.

The contract announcement did not specify whether the new prison would also hold foreign terror suspects.

Or maybe this New Camp will not be bulit to hold Foreign Prisoners - but Domestic ones.

Makes me wonder....

looks like theyll finally be installing the swimming pool, tennis courts, aqua park and thet KFC at the resort....for the more promminent guests that will be arriving shortly

Yep - the FIVE STAR CUBAN RESORT will soon be finished for the New Domestic Guests.

I wonder how the Marines at Guantanamo will treat these Guests?

Amazing how the "war on terror" is making so much profit for the big boys in the Halliburton elite.

I tell you Mr. President was right, when he said that pulling out of Iraq is not an option.

Can you imagine!!!!!!we have to keep them coming, and I am not referring to Guantanamo detainees, but the millions and billions spend on Cheney's baby Halliburton and its defense budget spending after going through the Carlyle group.

Anyways someone has to build and supply equipment for the Military would it make you feel better if it was another company? The only thing I don't like is that my tax $$$ are going towards building a county club for the detainees at Guantanamo.

Apparently this new Detention Camp #6 wont host foreign suspects - but possibly Domestic ones.

Which means, if you talk Loud enough, you could Have your very own Room with a view over Wonderful Carribbean Sea and they say that Food is just Great!

Obviously you still in the michel moor mood, let's blame it to him, see I never saw the film and was not interested in it either.

Also I did my home work very well on the Carlyle group and hey they are the daddy's what else.

The big guns in wall street, with privilege to the defense budget.

Every single deal that has to do with defense money goes through out them first.

Perhaps you need to read a littler bit more about the daddy's of American the Carlyle group.

I don't even care about what they haliburton is building but how they got the contract, with our tax payer money, I have to give to cheney he will sure knows how to make his fortune.

Its probably for the well behaved prisoners at Guantanamo since this new camp seem so modern and well equipped.
