Reading through some various news sites I came across this article which embedded a reporter with Charlie company over in Iraq.

Asian Times

The main quote that stuck out to me was
"After a typical episode in which the unit was attacked and ran away (four hailed taxis to make their escape), "

..imagine walking around some dangerous streets, someone having a crack at you, then 4 of ur mates drop everything n go screaming down the street for a escape vehicle

Yep Id have confidence in a force such as this.

Surely if Zarqawi is real, and his insurgents are coming up with new methods of attacking they'd see the lack lustered ability of this Countries armed forces.

I believe he is fake, why? because if he was real he would of realised the benefit of stopping the bombings, stopping the kidnappings, and laying dormant for 6months. When the Americans pull out, waving flags, and patting themselves on the back for a 'job well done'
he'd pull out the big guns, set off explosions all over town, get this bribed army distracted, then take over the government.

Hell, I bet you it would be like that scene in Brave heart where the Irish all start shaking hands and catching up on the battlefield... accept in this case, they'll all fire AK's into the air and kill the officers who ACTUALLY beleive in the American lie.

Because really, As the article says this army is no more than bribed iraqi's who when everything around them wsa destroyed did what ever they could for money.

""We can't tell these guys about a lot of this stuff, because we're not really sure who's good and who isn't," "

Are the Americans REALLY going to let this be the army? half of them are Curropt, and the other half of them are cowards.
Coward = "The way the situation is, we wouldn't be ready to take responsibility for a thousand years." BBC News

But wait a minute, just today ' Fri17th' I read this article
"The proposed House resolution calls on Bush to announce by year's end a plan for a withdrawal from Iraq that would begin by October 1, 2006."

I dunno if this is all part of a NWO, the antichrist of what ever..

but whast G.Bush and the American politicians have done to Iraq, will be one of the darkest blemishes on the United States for decades.

There was NO Reason to Invade, There was no Justification to Invade, and their was no reason to destory infinate numbers of peoples lives/families/wellbeings.

Im not attacking the USA, Im just saying u made a MONUMENTAL error, and its abotu time u took responsibility and admited that this war should never of happened.

Can you please explain how we defeat Islamic Terrorism with Sadaam still in power? With him, there would be no hope of Iran abandoning their nuclear weapons. They can use Sadaam as a bogeyman. He would still be funding Hamas and Hezbollah. He would strengthen Syria and they would still be in Lebanon. He would continue the culture of Islamic terrorism.

He was also pursuing WMDs. He did not have them, but he had the infrastructure and getting a nuclear bomb or chemical weapons was a top priority. He was also bribing the UN, and came very close to getting weapon sanctions lifted.

As far as the army, disarming the first army was a mistake. But still you can take isolated incidence from any army, like a guy throwing grenades at an officer, and say Look, see!

there wasnt a terrorist problem in Iraq before the US decided to invade
as Saddam saw them as threat to his regieme

and Hazbullah are only terrorists in the eyes of the US and Israel not the rest of the world

some people do come up with alot of breaze on here

As bodrul touched upon, Saddam was once our ally fighting against "Islamic Terrorism". Should he have been? Probably not. But if you want to fight Islamic terror, our target should be Saudi Arabia, not Iraq. Saudi Arabia has been funding most Islamic terror, with American oil money, while Saddam was our ally and while he was our enemy. A better question to ask would be, how do we defeat Islamic terror when we treat Saudi Arabia and Pakistan like our best friends while our armed forces are tied up in Iraq?

Not to mention the fact that there are some pretty damning connections between Saudi Arabia and 9/11, while Saddam's regime was the only- ONLY- secular one in the region, opposed to Islamic fundamentalism, and had no significant ties with 9/11, as several Congressional and Parliamentary investigations have concluded. And yet his regime was the ONLY one we attacked. The "logic" defies reason.

As for Iran using Saddam as a bogeyman, I think Saddam pales in comparision to the bogeyman potential Iran finds in Israel, which actually does have nuclear weapons.

considering the title of the article is"The bright, shining lie" one can expect the off the hook bull from the left. Jonathan Schell is a writer for the radical left wing magazine "The Nation". The hard left objective to demorolize the troops and the american people with bias, half truths and outright lies. This isn't just spin its a black hole of deception.

Spin?
Its taking direct quotes from US Soilders.
Its taking direct quotes from IRAQI soilders.

He can spin it any way he wants, but the reports coming out of the baghdad streets speaks for its self.

How can a army made up of bribed, desperate people believe in the greater good?

Deep down they hate the americans, they loathe them, and they are only there for the money!

C'mon, dont u see that for what it is ?

The Iraqi troops, for no real reason were door knocking, by INSTRUCTION from the American forces, whom were probably standing at there humvee's, lighting up a cigarette, while placing bets if this poor b@st@rd of a recruit is gunna get pinged as soon as the door opens...

Douglas Wood was a lucky SOB,

... what would you do, its jan 04, your countries occupied, u got no food, no water, no money and everyone aroudn u is in the same situation.
every night while sleeping u hear explosions.
every morning u wake u hear another sob story about a relly, or a friend, or a family?

There's 3 options in IRAQ at the moment.

Option 1 - Get paid to attack Americans.
Option 2 - Get paid to attack Iraqi Insurgents
Option 3 - Live in Squaller until Infrastructure REBUILT, and Jobs avaliable.

now .... look at it like this

NK Invades California

Option 1 - Get paid to attack Koreans
Option 2 - Get paid to attack American INSURGENTS
Option 3 - Live in a warzone, until the fighting ends????????(which is
exactly what the US Gvt EXPECTED the Iraqi's to do)

I mean, there's still major car bombs, kidnappings, and mass murders going on in iraq..its just that the MEDIA has stopped reporting them, they have become as common as chips... Its like reporting every night on a murder in NYC, so many ppl know its happening, why keep informing them.

This is how the US Gvt is going to disintergrate the IRAQ problem.
Out of sight, out of mind.

They used the Media to get this war..
and now there going to use the Media to get outta the war!

use this media to get out of the war
, if i remember correctly the U.S. gov is trying to reassure that they are winning the war, not trying to scare them that they are losing.

Where'd u come up with that scenario?

The US will just stop reporting on things happening...
only feeding you stories of succesful raids on a house containging only 3 female family members, all of whom were dubbed not insurgents.

The Iraqi's them selves dont beleive they have a friggen chance..
And the yanks think its a joke. sorry, THIER A joke.

Who cares about a boming here, whom cares about a murder there..
we trained a pathetic army, who's obviously not got a chance in hell,
but thats ok, we liberated them! They didnt want democracy, but they'll laern to love it with our new, completely legitimate government.
Who's already lost billions in money, becuase they are that curropt already! .

ID say the Americans are just setting IRAQ up, so that in 5 yrs they'll have to come invade and actually OCCUPY this time..
but then i say why go through that trouble, your already there..
Its carnage, its Chaos, and its only gunna get worse.

Of course the Media will present to your the story your winning..
when mass suicide bombings, and kiddnappers are small brief articles, on page 32 just before the business section in your local news paper.

Check, its already HALF way there!
Everyones screaming how bad the american government tricked everyone.

How'd they do it? Media, its obvious!
ITs a form of mind control when u think about it!
If TV radio and news went dead in your every day life How would u survive?

all Humans that have the simple nessecity such as RUnning WATER wouldnt..
but 99% of the major corporatoins CAN!
No matter whats being played over the airwaves, An oil company still refines Oil, a Stock Company still trades Stock, and a weapons factory STILL makes weapons..

thats how this war started and how it will end.

To control the war in Iraq, and the removal of US forces, the gvt must control the people.
And the people are controlled, by what their news stations, NEws papers, and Radio's TELL THEM!

Your insulting the US Marines and the Iraqi army directly, not to insult you but your acts are biased and common on this thread.

Calling half of ISF cowards and other corrupt is like me calling half of Australia panzies and other pathetic. Of course thats not the truth nor the case, its just a suggestion, a biased one.
