well, have you?

over the last summer i would occasionaly hear what sounded like whispers in my head. but the weird thing is its in what seems like someone speaking in german very very slowly. i am almost 100% german if that has anything to do with it. anyways thank God it only lasted over that summer. i just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone here and if you could determine what it was.

to me this doesnt label you as "crazy". being identified as "crazy" by hearing voices in your head would probably be them (the voices) telling you what to do and completely controlling your life. like those moms that drown and cut up their kids.

I don't think there is a problem if you are hearing them in your own head. When you are hearing them in someone elses, then there is a problem. With all the microwave communications going on these days, lots of people are hearing strange things in their heads. A woman in my neighborhood used to try to get a petition signed to move the microwave tower down the street because she said it made her hear things like crunchy noises in her head. She had quite a few signatures on her petition, so somebody must have agreed with her.

If you are really hearing voices in your head, that are not your own voice, then you are are probably suffering schizophrenia. Go to a doctor before you hurt someone.

Every time you ask yourself a question, you should hear a voice.

It should not be audible, it should not be nagging, and it is not 'right all the time'.

Again, the problem is in realizing that you can be made to believe it is your voice, those are your thoughts, etc.

Opening yourself up to hearing voices can and will lead to the unexpected, which is why it ain't recommended to demand God show himself to you.

Because, once you make the concession "Ok, God, if you really REALLY show up, I will (give you my life, etc.)" then there is something a whole lot more likely than what we properly term God that will show itself.

And yet, it will be called God by itself, and in turn, by you.

This is the down side to the power of belief. So what is the source of this?

Maybe we don't need to think, as much as look to our ancestors, and how they would attempt to relate these messages to us.

Don't depend on the advice of other members further than suggestions to do more research into this on your own.

This could be nothing more than an active imagination or as serious as a developing mental disorder.

ATS is a great resource to ask members for opinions and links to more info on almost any subject, but always do your own research and look to other sources before you draw any conclusions.

And if this happens again, it can't hurt to mention it to your doctor. Your GP can refer you to specialists that deal with this sort of thing.

Drop a line back to this thread in the future, and let us know what you find out and if it ever happens again.

Ok, yes, I've heard a voice in my head before... It was early morning and something said in my mind in a very harsh, deliberate, sinister whisper, "I keep warning you... Don't... come... back..." It wasn't garbled or hard to make out, or spoken in a different language. It was English, and very, very clear.

It definitely was not something that came from my mind. I'd like to think I'm not crazy.

oh, ya, hear them all the time.....
"bow down and worship thy lord god Bush.....bow down and worship thy lord god bush"

sorry, just couldn't resist.....

right after my mom died, I went a few weeks where I couldn't close my eyes without having visions of faces flashing, one after the other. Many were dressed in very old fashioned clothing. Some seemed familiar, and I wonder if I had seen them in the few old family pictures I've seen of my mother's side of the family.

for some reason, don't know why, I kept thinking that the explanation of this went something like this......
the family's matriarch held ancerstrial knowledge of all those who came before her and it was passed down from generation to generation....and well, my mom had passed this down to me. The faces was a manifestation of that.....
I still have visions often when I go to bed, but not of the faces anymore...Last night it was of one of the cutest birds I have ever seen. It was larger that a cat and being held by someone. It's face was kind of flattened like an owls, but it was so fluffy!! and well, it was kind of striped blace and white...the thing was adorable!

but you mentioned that well, they were speaking your ancestrial language to you, so, well.....thought maybe it was something like my experience....

of course if they start saying that you should bow down and worship bush like I jokes, them you might want to read up on some of what they claim about HAARP!

Since this forum is on the paranormal, was the original poster attempting to say he/she was hearing voices from "ghosts, aliens etc"? Or is this more of a personal nature in which the poster maybe be having some other issues of a medical/psychology nature?

Being new here I apologize for the question but I am trying to learn to follow the themes of the forums. I have read and seen programs of paranormal contact via voices more along the lines of ghosts trying to communicate and typcially they are trying to communicate a story or event from what I have read (I am certainly no expert of course). I would think like with many paranormal events there are those that are more sensitive to them and thus may be able to hear, feel and see things that many of us may not.

Good luck to the poster on whatever was meant in the post. Thank you.

Split personality =/= schizophrenia.
People who are schizophrenic often see/hear things that aren't there, they can seem very real to those people, but they are just in their mind. They often kinda live in their own world. They can for example have friends that aren't real, or they see patrons that aren't there, or they often see conspiracies... og wait... um... well I'm going to shut up now before I get banned.

Anyway Bubble Boy, if you should keep hearing those voices you should first go see a doctor, I don't want to be rude or anything, but you should be carefull with things like this.
Were you under a lot of stress when you started hearing them?

I have voices bouncing around in my head, but it is not as if they come out of nowhere and talk to me, i usually only hear them when pondering or questioning. I don't think it is anything to be concerned about though. Its usually just one, but on occasion there can be 2 or 3, this is usually only when i am confused or angry.
I don't worry about it though, its not a problem.

People telling others to seek help should go get a dose of psychiatric drugs and come back here and post a coherent message.

We are NOT here to tell people how 'messed up' it is that they hear a voice in their MIND!

If you heard a voice inside your head, ok, there is reason for concern.

But we as a society really need to figure out this mind/body separation, and that both are literally LIKE voices, just as our subConscious can have a voice.

Maybe if there are some risktakers in the audience we can get some people to volunteer to ask for some voices to enter their head, give them permission and so forth.

This would be a much more valuable study than anything to do with psychiatric toxins, I mean drugs.

Why is schizophrenia being discounted so quickly?

If we're not here to give an opinion, or offer help in what might be a genuine concern for the poster....then exactly why are we here?

Shouldn't we explore both possibilities if we're unsure?

(fwiw, as Legalizer I think pointed out...schizophrenia is NOT a split personality. That would generally fall under dissociative disorder, not schizophrenia)

(edited for lack of grammar. Blame it on caffeine, or lack thereof)

Hi Bubbleboy
I have had the same experience with whispering in my head. It happened when I was in a flat when I was 21. It was always when I went to bed and more often than not it was just my name that I heard, over and over again. I was frightened to death and eventually moved somewhere else. I honestly don't think that it's anything paranormal but just your mind settling down and getting ready for sleep, it was really unnerving though. I have always found it hard to sleep as my mind stays active for 2 or 3 hours sometimes when I go to bed, perhaps that had something to do with it. And no I'm not schizophrenic (and neither am I
) LOL.

Incidentally, a few months after I moved from there, I saw a psychic who is well known in my area. I mentioned my old flat and she said "You have heard voices of the dead who hadn't crossed over. You should have told them to go to the light". I suppose I gave her that info though when I asked her about it... She also said that I had a bad back from my office chair not being supportive enough (which was true) but that may have been because I greeted her like Quasimodo when she arrived at my door....
