Who started ATS?

I did a brief search and found something about a guy from Swindon.
Anyway, is that any of the mods here or someone else?
Also, how long has ATS been around?

For as far as I know, Simon Gray has always been the pimpdaddy of ATS.

I also remember that they used to have an offsite hosted forum. Dunno if the site itself existed before the Archive.org snapshots under another domain name.

I remember a while ago, at least 4 or so years, I was around 10 or 11 and my Mother rented this video from a local video store. It was about Aliens and I remember that they mentioned this website and showed someone surfing around on it, then they talked to the guy who owned it but he was shadowed so you couldn't see him. I can't remember his name though, but I know that after that we went back there to rent it out and again and they said they never had that video there, ever.

What? Seems wierd that he'd want to hide from the cameras. Well in a way I can understand that someone doesn't want to be filmed, but after all this is ATS and maybe there is a conspiracy behind

I've never given a television interview about this website or anything else for that matter so that isn't true.

Thanks to Simon Grey for this forum, I check it daily. We live in a truely amazing time. I like to think that forums like this one in the everlasting search for the truth, that we here can try to keep the powers that be honest....yeah yeah thats stretching it a bit, but If everyone in the world would Deny Ignorance, the world would be a saner place

That's so wierd, because that video was what got me into conspiracy stuff ages ago, then I didn't touch it for years, but luckily I could remember the link.
The video case was blue and black, and they had someone looking around this website in it then they interviewed the 'webmaster' of the website. The only other part of the video that I remember was some guy who got abducted as a little kid then told that when he was older he would have their children. After I saw the video I went to the site and I remember an Area 51 page about a guy that took photos from it, he was wearing blue jeans and a white top if I remember correctly, then I printed the page out and had it on my wall.
So yeah, even if it wasn't you, they had this website on there and someone that claimed to own it.

Was ATS even ATS 4 years ago? Was it the same URL?
Ive only been here a few months but by looking at the membership dates I don't think ATS was what it is now with the same URL for you to remember from 4+ years back.

I don't know, maybe Im just crazy

Anyways, I would like thank Mr. SimonGray and the SO guy for doing a great job on this site. And it's free, that's what's cool....ever since Ive been on ATS Ive saved Money...alot if it too.

This particular message board software came online in 2002. There were previous boards running on different software which were around before this time.

ATS became ATS when abovetopsecret.com was registered, so I guess 18 May 1997. Before this, ATS was Area 51 Research Center.
