They did exist, evidently, but were disbanded.

What evidence suggests that the 'priory' did in fact exist? And what relates it to the templars??

Hm, I didn't say that there was evidence linking it to the Templars. I said that many people think that they are connected. I am not convinced.

As for the proof that they did exist, I am basing that on a History Channel documentary which looked at the Dan Brown books, and they tried to prove or disprove the content of them.

They said that there are ancient documents relating to the Priory of Sion in existance, but that it was disbanded many years ago. I am assuming if they went to the trouble to research this, that it is probably true.
They were also inconclusive about the Templar link. They debunked a lot of stuff, such as the modern "Priory of Sion."

Because of this, I am assuming that the History Channel documentary is telling the truth. I don't have access to papal documents, or medieval priory documents, so I can't independantly verify this.

i've always been interested in the priory of zion or Sion, do anyone have any idea how one would go about becomming a member of them?

Its almost certain that the group never existed, but, if we pretend it does, and we pretend that it has grand masters and initiates, then we can say that it must recruit people. So in order to get into it, one would have to know what it does, and how to attract its attention and let it know that you feel the same as they do and want to join. After that, I'd assume our imaginary initiates would check you out and make a decision.

So, why do you want to join the priory?

True but how does one even go about figuring that stuff out?
