The main fire is at Yucca Mountain, ring any bells? It is quite large and has shown up on wildfire sites. Scroll down on this link and see the map:

I shot the photos from US 95, it runs along the west side of the test site.

I tried to go in the usual back way dirt road last night to get closer, but the gate was closed, usually it is open. It is a county road.

Great photos desert rat from another in the 'Kingdom of Nye'

Is that why the 'Hot Shots' were in our neck of the cactus? I guess they left shortly, before the big north Pahrump Valley fire two days ago. They had to call in help from Vegas and Crystal.

So does anyone know if anything at Groom Lake was damaged? I bet they have some top secret foam or something they can spray. I bet they have some kind of defense for almost any kind of threat to Area 51.

Groom lake is quite a few miles from Yucca. They did call off work at Yucca Mountain today due to the fire.....which is still blazing by the way, almost 48 hours now.

Here's a photo Art Bell has on his web cam tonight desert rat. He's probably going to talk, about the fires on Coast to Coast a.m. tonight. I can see most of the Pahrump Valley on the north side. We got out of the flood zones and moved to higher ground. Had to go without electricity for 8 years, but it was worth it. Finally got electricity in 1999. That fire looked really threatening, especially with the winds from our point of view. I just hope people don't get stupid with the fireworks this year with all the dried up weeds out there. A fire could run from one end of the valley to the next if the winds were right.

It's funny, I'm not hearing much on the news about Yucca, but that's not unusual huh? They have some stuff stored there already which isn't too healthy,,,, especially if it were to burn.

Firefighter have set up a huge staging area in Beatty, food, showers, rest, at the former Burro INN.

Why are they doing that desert rat do they expect something? I didn't know the Burro Inn closed down. Art Bell has been announcing on KNYE 95.1 a.m. radio for everyone to cut down the weeds on their property. So far there's been several fires. They stopped the open burning. You've probably got a lot of weeds too. Does Arts radio station KNYE 95.1 a.m. reach Beatty?

Sorry meshuggah1324 I didn't mean to ignore you.
I wouldn't worry about Area 51 'they' have all kinds of defense programs to prevent any threats.

The access road to the fire is just a few miles north of Beatty. The firefighters are gathering in Beatty as we speak, Hotshots and Clark County FD. Expect more crews. They have eating tables set up at the Burro parking lot for over a hundred and huge portable shower trailers A crew just headed to the fire. A local FF told me today the the fire "backfired" and needs to be fought. With the high wind today, it got really big. Huge plume of smoke can be seen from Beatty.

If you drive up 95 to mile marker 41, you can see the fire at night. It is massive.

The Burro and the Exchange Club were bought by the Stagecoach Casino and closed down. The Burro will be torn down.

I can get Art's station once I get past the narrows of Beatty.

We had a mini grass fire last week and yup, my weeds are chopped down. They were thick.

OK, George Knaap, the KLAS TV I-team reporter in Vegas is the guy who broke Bob Lazar's story in the 80's. I emailed Knaap this story about an Area 51 wild fire on 6/3/05. He said "thanks for sending this, great pictures, I will forward this to my crew to run a story."

So if you live in Vegas, watch KLAS-TV Channel 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry for the all caps, but yucca mountain is a storage zone for radioactive waste (yep, already is)
so it is possible that this will cause the very same health problems that burning radioactive waste at Area 51 caused...
(the only lawsuit against Area 51)

maybe this is an effort to reduce the already boggling amount of waste being sent there. (hey, if they could do it at area 51, and get away with it, then why not Yucca?)

From the State of Nevada Nuclear Projects in an email I just received from them about the recent wild fire in the area:

"Eric;
You know something we haven't heard about.
Where did you hear about this?"

Something is fishy here, but I don't know what it is...
