"Naturally the common people don’t want war, but they can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. Tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and endangering the country. It works the same in every country."

(10 points for whoever know the source of the quote...I'll post the correct answer later...credit where credit is due of course!!)

This quote struck me as very powerful, and also very truthful of the power of a nation's trust in it's leaders. I believe there is some truth behind this in the current US administration.

Somewhere along the way the War on Terror turned into the War in Iraq for freedom and democracy of the Iraqi people. Didn't we learn enough of a lesson with Vietnam? This time, instead of hand grenades in baby carriages it's psycho suicide car bombers, but either way the result is the same... You cannot fight a war against an enemy that you cannot see, so when your enemy looks just like the average citizen, you cannot see your enemy. This will be a war that merely claims more and more American casualties with little, if any, progress.

Hermann Goering.

To be honest with you, I don't even travel to the US anymore. Big Brother is watching and it's only a matter of time before the American public wakes up and realizes that they've been duped. I don't wanna be around when the US public shakes off its' cobwebs and gets pissed.

Because it'll get ooogly.

Hermann Goering, around the time of the Nuremberg trials, however the quote wasn't from his testimony but a private conversation with Gustave Gilbert.

Now to collect my 10 points...
