OF COURSE THIS WOULD ONLY APPLY TO THOSE CONVICTED. THIS WOULD DETER ALOT OF TERRORIST. THE FACT THAT THEY WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN IS
UN-THINKABLE.

Thats a good idea, I remember that the Moslems rioted in India over using grease made of pigs fat, so all we have to do is put pig fat grease over everything and they can't come into contact with it... we could coat our planes in it, it might make them go faster...

I have heard that before about Pershing, but I don't know how true it is. I think it would be worth a try. You could overfly HOSTILE Muslim areas with a cropduster spraying pig blood.

Unfortunately, the most militant terrorists have moved on in their belief structures I fear.

Supposedly Mohammed Atta and parts of his 'crew' were in Miami just the night before 9/11, living it up in night clubs, drinking and paying for lapdances (not the behavior you would expect from people believing they are about to be martyred).

Whether or not you believe Atta (or some namesake) the actual pilot was there, if he was, it indicates a basic deviation from fundamentalist Islamic understanding of preparing yourself to meet Allah.

Never mind that that whole story of 9/11 preparations does not stack up, the fact is, no terrorist on a mission in 2003 is likely to be deterred by pig's blood or entrails any more. The world has moved on.

Wouldn't it be great if it were that simple?

Unfortunatly, the story about General Pershing is a legend, and while Muslims would consider this sort of thing an outrage, they don't really believe it would bar a person from paradise. Like most religions, they believe the afterlife is determined by the choices you make, not by things beyond your control.

I'm all for stopping terrorism, but I don't think that is the way to go about it. Tactics like that are a bit superstitious don't ya think.

Why not just use Voodoo and Gypsy Curses while you're at it?

Also using such tactics seems like it would result in more reasons to be hated. Attacking a belief system would make you seem like more of the antichrist, or whatever evil diety that is associated.

Damn, thats a pity it won't work, but I am sure coating planes in pig fat greese will make them go faster through the air.

why don't we have a doorframe type thing at airports that everyone walks through which has pig entrails hanging down in it, .. fresh ones .. that would sort out the moslems...

Your last point is spot on.

Religious persecution is not the way to overcome terrorism.

But working with other nation states to co-operatively help them overcome the problems of "evil" (ie, ill-intentioned towards human life) preaching is a step in the right direction.

There are a few fundamental pillars in Islamism that, if they were unwound, would prevent terrorist organizations from using them to elicit hateful responses and planned actions to kill 'infidels'.

A couple of years ago, an important friend of mine offered to help the CIA with this. The response was along the lines of "We have the matter in hand, thanks".

He still trusts the incumbent Bush administration because he is formerly an Islamic leader, who sees the potential damage that radical and hateful Islamists can do.

I do not trust the incumbent administration at all. They are fit to be tossed out six months ago into the dustbin of human uselessness.

It seems so simple to me and to so many others why some ideas and tactics either do not work or work in opposite of the desired result. That is why I don't understand why if it is so obvious to untrained, common, everyday people like myself and others, it isn't seen by those who actually need to be seeing it. It leaves only two answers that are disturbing at best. One is they are incompetent to do the job they are supposed to, or Two, they are doing it on purpose. Not too cool from where I'm sittin'. Someone here at ATS even had a signature that said it perfect, and I quote:

Actually I doubt such a tactic would work.

The fanatics who are terrorising have already re-interpreted the Koran and Islam enough, undoubtedly they'd just ignore the supersticion or they'd say that that is better reason not to get caught

Don't misunderstand me I have nothing against Muslims or Islam. The Muslims that obey their Religion and the law have nothing to fear. It's the criminals that have something to fear.

Get the govt's particularly the US to stop funding all those warlords and freedom fighters around the world, you know like they did with the Taleban and come to think of it Saddam.

One man's freedom fighter is anothers terrorist it all depends which side of the fence you sit.

Pershing was a great man, and i agree with what he did. Look at what they made Daniel Pearl do before they beheaded him. I say we take the scumbags at Guantanamo and all over the world in captivity out to a field somewhere, and make them eat a shotgun.

There were numerous reports of the Russians burying dead Chechen rebels in this manner and also historical accounts of British Forces doing roughly the same in Afghanistan during the days of the Empire.

Wether or not it works is still up to question. Ethically and morally though, in my opinion - it sucks. It makes us no better than them.
