I wonder?????

I wonder what the world would be like if the U.S.A just decided to pack up and stop helping other countries in their time of need. no money helping other countries, no protection from dictators. all opnions welcomed good and bad: let me have it.

I'm pretty sure that some wouldn't like it, but having said that, American companies and policy makers wouldn't like it either. So-called "aid" is the number one way that America can project its power and influence onto other nations.

Nothing is completely altruistic - not even aid. It's not a knock on America because it is the same for all powerful nations now, and throughout history. Giving "aid" and military interventions helps nations assert power and influence.

In many ways, "aid" is a tool for neo-colonialism.

The world, like the people who populate it, would adapt, and continue on it's way.

Different? Yes.

Better off/worse off? A subjective judgement.

The real question, for me, as an American, would seem to be: Would I, as a human being, be better off ignoring the needs of my fellow humans, depsite whether or not they acknowledge my efforts in their behalf.

To this, I can easily answer, No.
