I always wanted to take the tour of the NORAD facility and nod to the guy next to me every couple minutes and say "Da, Comrade". But everyone told me it was top secret and they would not be giving tours. 8^(

It is called Cheyenne Mountain, not Mount Cheyenne. I live about 5 minutes away from it and I can view NORAD from my upstairs window. It's pretty cool.

You must be living in my old house in Widefield. Widefield and Fountain are built on the debris that came out of the middle of the mountain.

First, I think that they officially call it Cheyenne Mountain and not Mount Cheyenne. Maybe if you search google, you'll have more hits that way. Anway, I plan on going there next week. I doubt they'll allow pics though. I did the tour about 9 years ago. I'm sure things have changed regarding the tour since 9/11. All I remember is the huge bomb door that is in the cave entrance and thousands of 100 pound springs that the complex sits on inside of the mountain

Oh yeah, I remember seeing the huge main room as well. Huge monitor in the front. Off to the side the is the sign where they adjust the DefCon level. You can get some really good shots of this one in the 80s Matthew Broederick film WarGames. For the movie, they could have duplicated the feel of the place on the set, but the real one looks just like that =)

Just watched it. Is it really like that? Amazing.

Is the blast door they used in the film the real one?

Well, if you watch StarGate SG-1 when they show the entrance to the mountain, its identical to the real one, and If I'm not mistaken there have been some episodes where they used a real room for filming.
