What's with this grenade man? First they say it was a real one, then they say no it was a dummy grenade they use for training, now they are saying it was a real one again? I have the press releases for all three reports, they're telling us they don't know the difference? Maybe they weren't sure? What the hell, I mean if this is some kind of desperate ploy to make america think poor george, they at least need to get their damned press releases in order... lol. What a crack pot job this one must have been. If your going to lie to Joe Public, at least tell Joe the same lies, cause sooner or later Joe Public is gonna figure it out.
Here's the latest version, now it's a real one again...

www.charter.net...
A hand grenade that landed within 100 feet of President Bush during his visit last week to a former Soviet republic was a threat to his life and the safety of the tens of thousands in the crowd, the FBI said Wednesday.

The grenade was live but did not explode....
According to the FBI's initial investigation, the grenade failed to explode only because of a malfunction. The activation device deployed too slowly to hit the blasting cap hard enough, agent Bryan Paarmann said.

The grenade was a knockoff of a Soviet-designed RGD-5, a fragmentation grenade with a lethal range of about 100 feet, according to a source familiar with the incident, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

This grenade story reeks of Spin fellers. I bet Karl Rove himself slung that toy at George. The most televised, secure event in Tbilisi, and they didn't see the guy lobbing a grenade?

How do you spot a spin story? Well when you see something like "according to a source familiar with the incident, who spoke on condition of anonymity." over the effective range of a common soviet grenade, it's a good bet somebody is bullchitting you.

Edit:

At first, the White House said the president never was in danger. Georgian officials denied the incident had happened.

A day later, Georgian officials confirmed there had been a grenade but said it was found on the ground _ not thrown, as the Secret Service had said. They also said it was an "engineering grenade" _ which is not designed to spread shrapnel _ and was found in inactive mode.

"Obviously we've learned more since," McClellan said.

Let's sum this up..
Somebody chucked it... no, it was laying around... They said what grenade? then they said, oh yeah that training grenade, then we said no that live grenade, don't you remember (elbow)? Then said oh yeah that one...

Quite obviously this didn't happen. There is no way something like this would have been missed by the SS guarding Bush. The continually changing story simply destroys any veracity it might have had.

Sad to see that reports like this get made now in an attempt to gain sympathy for Bush.

This did happen, and read the reports.....the Georgian Government originally stated the grenade was a dummy, dud trainer..call it whatever...the US Government has stated it was real from the start...of course at first they really did not have many details...but the US gov has not stated it was a fake or a dud...that was the Georgian Govt.

READ THE REPORTS

Is it possible that a device accompanies Bush everywhere that prevents grenades from going off, guns from firing, explosives from exploding? I know that some world leaders' motorcades have jamming devices that prevent car bombs from being remotely exploded and whatnot. I've also read about an invention some dude from Canada made and gave to Israel, that they used for that hostage raid in Africa. Apparantly it jams everything, even guns.

Anyway, is it possible that this could be why the grenade didn't explode (assuming it was live)? They say that our government is and has been developing technology that is about 40 years ahead of what we see right now. It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case with this "grenade."

Pretty interesting, but it seems that this device would also prevent the SS and other security personel from firing thier weapons aswell. A device like this would also effect other electrical, mechanical and/or chemical devices...vehicles, radios maybe, microphones, speakers...etc...

Sounds kool, It may be real but highly unlikely. I mean there are not any electronics involved in firing a gun (most guns) or detonating a grenade.
It's a chemical and mechanical process for firing the both. But who knows, I think it would be awesome if such a device did exist.

Now they are saying it was tossed again...

source
In a statement, a Federal Bureau of Investigation official at the U.S. embassy said the grenade, thrown while Bush made a keynote speech in Tbilisi's Freedom Square on May 10, had been live and landed within 30 meters (100 feet) of the president. ...

"This hand grenade appears to be a live device that simply failed to function due to a light strike on the blasting cap induced by a slow deployment of the spoon activation device," said the statement....

There was no explanation for the discrepancy between the different versions....

Paarmann said he had no evidence as to who tossed the grenade...

How obvious can a lie be and people still buy it?

This is a funny report.. I've been scanning it over the past few weeks, and yeah, I noticed the sudden change, then change back, then change..

I'm pretty sure it was reported as a dud first, then real, then dud, then real again.. not sure, it's been really conflicting in every aspect; laying on the ground, throw, real, dud, 100ft, 50ft.. shrug..

I also found it somewhat funny that this repetitive change wasnt brought up earlier on ATS..
ECK

I think the main reason people are ignoring this, or acting like its no big deal, are the ones that have seen it change so many times and completely shrugged off the story as fact.. who knows

All we know is our media must be obviously gullible, or persuaded easily

1: "The bomb be real mam!"
Reporter: Ok, thanks. Lemme rush this to print.

Our reporters forgot how to investigate and report. .. All they do now is report and investigate afterwards.

I think if it was a conspiracy, it was planted/thrown/whatever by Russian operatives as a warning to stay out of their sphere of influence -- if you come back, next time it'll work.

There is no conspiracy on this matter, it really did happen and an investigation really is going on.

Some people say it's staged because the SS would never let this happen....well read the news...people by the thousands started swarming the checkpoints and eventually bypassed the metal detectors and security screening stations. I mean think about it.....almost 150 thousand people....it's impossible to check them all.
