Marie Trintignant, 41 year old French movie star, died on Friday morning from a cerebral edema.
She had been taken to hospital last Sunday after her boyfriend, rock singer Bertrand Cantat, had beaten her.

Following the announcement of her death, Jacques Chirac praised her for her "beauty, sensitivity and intelligence".

The actress had played in over 30 movies. Her last project was a TV movie, "Colette", which was produced in Lithuania.
