Recently, it was mentioned on Shortnews that the SCO Group is suing IBM for utilizing its Unix System V source code that it got a US copyright for.
The SCO Group also maintains that millions of Linux users and companies are violating this copyright.
The SCO Group is asking users/companies that use Linux to purchase UnixWare licenses. SCO's CEO says, "With more than 2.4 million Linux servers
running our software and thousands more running Linux every day, we expect SCO to be compensated."
Leigh Day, Red Hat's spokeswoman, says "We see no validity in their claims, and we therefore see no reason for our customers to feel that they need
to buy a license from SCO." So far many see SCO as making idle threats that the court will evaluate.
