In ancient times, societies were matriarichal(aka females were dominant), it slowly turned into a petriarichal world(male dominant), so now as women are getting more rights, and the society pendelum is slowly centering towards equality, there is a rise in the homo sexual society(male AND female).

The greeks and romans were a bi sexual society, are we headed in that direction? Since there are more gays then ever....will our kids become gay due to the 'mainstream'?

Our culture and society changes. I wouldn't call that evolution.

I don't think there's more gays than ever. I just think there's more open gays than ever. Because of the evolution of society (i.e. tolerance) people feel more comfortable expressing their...um.....gayness.

Besides, I take the view that homosexuality is biological, not something caused by watching Sex in the City.

Is there a report or a study out that has covered the ratios of homo vs. hetero?

biological?
Hmm, seems everything these days is attributed to "biological"...."its in the genes"......"I was born this way"........"its a mDNA thing, you wouldn't understand"....
I guess "it being in the genes" is the norm today......
Its amazing how many accept that excuse.....
Never mind that its simply a "choice"....

My brother didn't "choose" to be gay. He always tried going out with girls...he simply wasn't attracted to them. Do you really think people "choose" a life of persecution? No, I doubt it...

I have my own theories on it (such as a being's soul simply has a disposition towards one sex or another, and if reborn into the opposite, it doesn't just forget those inclinations)...

To answer the original question though, I think our society is Devolving, not Evolving...and it's not just sexuality....it's really more due to having both parents work, and nobody is the caregiver. This results in kids being raised poorly, who then make poor citizens...and poor citizens then make for a less ideal society. Unfortunately, no resolution is in sight, and it is getting worse....

Let me see, according to scientists there are fat genes, alcoholic genes, homosexual genes, eating disorder genes.

What a load of crap and i'm living proof. Yes, I used to be fat but I went on a diet and I exercised, so I guess I deleted my fat gene. I used to be a raging alcoholic, for real, but haven't had a drop in almost two years and have no desire to drink, another deleted gene I guess. So if I have the homosexual gene will I wake up one day and pronounce to the world,"I'M GAY, OH FABULOUS DAY! Maybe it's all in peoples' head, Americans love someone or something else to blame, it make them 'feel good'. I don't believe that for a minute. It takes alcohol to become an alcoholic, not a gene. It's the feeling that's responsible, not the gene. The only way I can see the gene being responsible is if the GENE causes and controls the addiction. But, it doesn't work like that.

You keep beleiving those "excuses"......
Being born "gay" is still to date, not founded nor empirically proven.
There is no "homo" gene.
If one believes in evolution.......how does homosexuality serve evolution.....evolution has a tendency to lean towards reproduction of the species!
If one believes in God.......where does homosexuality fit in at?
Try that its hormonial.
In other words a mental thing.
Brain functions and structures.

I'm sorry, did you just imply that something HORMONAL is a "mental" thing?
Hormones are a chemicals produced by various organs & glands of the body...the ovaries, the testes, the thyroid, the pancreas, the pituitary, the hypothalmus, etc.

If something HORMONAL is all in the mind, I trust you'll tell that to every diabetic you meet.
Insulin is a hormone, and its lack of production is what causes diabetes mellitus.

Hormones also induces labor in a woman.
They can be a cause of obesity or unhealthy thin-ness in a thyroid dysfunction.
They can cause massive physical growth or un-natural short staturedness in pituitary dysfunction.

None of those are all in the head, are they?

Try this on for size.

It's a real nice starting point for hormones and sexuality.

Evolution also leans towards population control....certainly is an effective method, you've got to give mother nature props for that, hehe....
Remember too, homosexuality occurs in animals too. Therefore, if you stick by the logic that it is a choice, then you must acknowledge, that these animals have the ability to choose....ahh...now what a dilemna....

Research other primate species' rampant homosexual and bisexual behavior for some real insights into how expressing these preferences serves their social order and evolution.

It is interesting stuff.

Unless, of course, you are one of those chimpists or monkeyists who believes they are way different to us and that we have some god-given higher purpose that makes us altogether different.

ThePrankMonkey knows exactly what I am saying.

So you can't believe in God and be a homosexual? Is that right?

The downward spiral...

Or the bottom of the hill...

How about, that which is hidden by the horses tail...

Ok, but I'm sure you all are catching on to what I'm getting at. I hope...
