Where would the world be without religion.
Without the promise of a God
Without the demons of the dark

So many religions and so many beliefs, so much pain caused and wars fought over them.

What do people get out of it?
What would people get without it?

Is it used to control the masses of the vulnerable and easy montivated.

Or is it used as a communication between people to celebrate a place of peace after death.

What are your views as person in todays world with differnt religions around you?..does it affect you?..do you worship a god?..or pay humble respect?

Without religion, a whole lot more people would be alive today.
Without religion, sexual crimes would be almost nil.
Without religion, people could actually think for themselves instead of trusting some spooky, incompetent, father-figure that doesn't care anyways.
Without religion, those of us with better sense wouldn't have to listen to some christian, automaton droid telling us how he was "Saved by Jesus," and that the rest of us are scum.
Without religion, we wouldn't have to listen to these christian athletes thank Jesus everytime they win and never mention his name when they lose.
Without religion, humans would be able to evolve...

BlueSpirit, essentialy, rligion is in place because humans do not have the capacity to understand everything in the universe. It is much easier for someone to write things off as a miracle or an act of god rather than figure out what the real cause is. Religion, has though, without out question, done some pretty amazing things for the world, as well as spur some really horrible ones.

I respect the forces in the Universe, but I do not "worship" them.

To answer your question, religion is many different things, to many different people. It isn't just one. To some, it is a tool of control. To others, it represents hope. To more still, it is an explaination for that which cannot be explained. Personally, I think it's caused more harm than good in the world, but eventually, we'll stop believing in gods, just as we once stopped believing in Santa and the Easter Bunny....once another explaination becomes undeniable...

Religion has its pro's and con's....
Religion is a paradox within itself....
But bear in mind that God is beyond mere religion and the contexts and concepts thereof.
God was before 'books' and before religion.....
Therefore, God would still be even without religion.

Some have suggested that "religion" is actually hardwired into the human brain. There was a frequent guest on Art Bell a few years ago that would discuss this theory.

Thanks for your replies people

I agree that religion is more of problem than a platform where humans can evolve.

i personally do not think that one day people will suddenly get bored with the idea of chrisitianity or other religions or grow out of it, unlike religions before where they where based in one country or few, access to varying media's have allowed religous segments to reach vulnerable worldwide who need quick fix answers..without having to ask any questions.

Religion being hardwired into the brain?..must be dna related..if not then some suspecious goings on.

I do not beleive in a Christian God..or a heavenly place where we all meet up and have a good ol talk. Life is what brought us to this world, life is the essence
of the universe..and without it...you have nothing..not even a being that in your eyes you view to be Great.

Each of us is a small portion of God. He created us to experience our creation. That is why the universe continually expands.

People are taught a conception of "Heaven". We are God's creation as is everything around us. This is heaven. What we choose to do with this illusion is strictly up to us.

There are only two true emotions-God's love and fear. If one listens to their soul(the holy spirit in each of us) and not what everyone tells or told them what is or what should be there would be no fear. In fact, if we all furthered God's love and this became a perfect place then it would no longer exist. God created us to create and experience. For without our experience God cannot experience who she really is.
