I have just finished reading text from Ibn Fadlans journal (made popular by Michael Crichtons "Eaters of the dead", and "The 13th Warrior". It seems as is the creature he reports seeing in his journal may be a small tribe of still excisting (then), neanderthal. In his text it is described very accuratly as what we know from remaining skeletons, fossils, that Neanderthal look like. Ibn seems to also call these creatures Wendol, and it even sounds like some ape like creature. Have any of you read the any of Ibn Fadlans journa? You can find it online...it is written very matter of factly, not a whole lot of exciting reading, but very interesting. It also gives an acurate description of norse tradition too.

So, read it, and give your feedback on wether or not you think it may have been a still existing group of neanderthal, or just an incredibly hairy man....

All of Ibn Fadlans text have been authenticated, please dont waste everyones time trying to debunk. I can cite reffrences.

Thats what the movie and book imply, sure. What in his description really indicates neanderthals tho? As opposed to any other typt of human??

Please cite the passage and also link to the source you are reading from.

BTW: Wendol, wendingo, a creature thats not entirely un-Grendol like amoung the natives of canada.
