Just curious, what is the proper procedure to delete a story if you become aware that the story is already posted?

Is it ok just to Edit the story title and leave it blank and then delete the text from the body of the message? Will that send it to the trash bin automaticaly?

No, that does not send a post directly to the trash bin. A u2u to a mod of the forum or super will result in a result sooner.

OK Thanks just thought it might be easier if the system was set up to do it automatically, but guess that is not possible.
