You are conflating two closely related, but different, scriptures, and it tweaks the intended meaning.
Matthew 24:22 refers to the
intensity of the Great Tribulation in that, if it were not cut short, "no human beings would be saved;
but
for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened."
Matthew 24:24 refers to the
intensity of the deception brought upon all humankind "for false Christ's and false prophets will arise and
show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray,
if possible, even the elect.
This probably sounds hopelessly nitpicky; I don't mean it that way, but it is important in terms of
biblical apocalyptic eschatology.
