We now know the mother took the child w/o her lawerys advice to get paid to appear on a national tv show. How nice, it is all about the money now; not the child as it should be.

Then to add insult to injury she fired the lawyer which makes me wonder if the tabloid show is going to hire her a new one?

Umm, again Kazi, your wrong. I knew from the first day this story came out that the girl was black. And I didnt read it here first. I have this thing in my living room called a "television" On this "TV",as we call it, they have programming called "the news" I watch it from time to time. Since my grandmother died last week I was a little busy and didnt have much time for ATS. I will be sure to update you from now on though.

This is disgusting. That child was being antagonized by the big fat pig of teacher.
Anyone who knows anything about children, knows the more in their face you get, the more attention you pay to them when they are having a mood swing, the more they will act up, the more they will thrash, the more danger to themselves and others they will become.

The solution is to seperate the child, and leave them to sulk, until they desire to conform, follow behavior rules and behave, not follow their every move and antagonize them.

This happened in Florida, a state known for killing kids, for mismanaging their lives, for allowing pedophiles and torturers to adopt 14 of them and starve them to near death.

Anyone who sides with the police or school need their head examined.

You people act like being sued is the threat that keeps teachers from manhandling children.
You are dead wrong, the DEATH PENALTY prevents them, not the one on the books but the

Beating children in school raises children with the notion "Violence is the solution", and is very quickly followed up with "Your parents let me beat you, and I'll beat you some more if you tell anyone about how I'm sticking my finger in your crack", as easily witnessed by the over 20,000 reported abuses by the Catholic church in America in the past 20 years. Catholic Schools are notorius for their wrap on knuckles attacks,

This thread is the first I've heard about this......and before you make
assumptions read my previous post.
As any idiot (no, im not calling you one) can read (my earlier post) I clearly sided in favor of the mom and the girl because the only resource I had at the time was the video. But after Seekerof posted a link that gave more insight and after listening to what people had to say and googling up on my own getting more details I changed my mind....

their head examined. Wow. Lots of anger toward authority,
teachers, police, and the law not to mention towards the state
of Florida (or is it America in general?) Did you have a difficult
time in school? Did you get arrested in front of others? You are
really pulling emotion from a well someplace ... where? Your
time-out is a good idea, except this child was out of control and
there aren't padded rooms in public schools to put out of control
children. She was a threat to others and to herself. Restraint
was the only option left.

And just so you know, we homeschool and are NOT fans of
the NEA, public school, or law enforcement interfering in a
person's civil rights.

I still fail to see how a grown adult can not be physically capable of restraining a 5 year old without handcuffs....

Still, I don't see cuffs as overly cruel either.

Can't blame her for taking the kid out of state though, Florida has to be the absolute WORST state to have children due to the Gestapo powers of DCF, who can remove your children without probable cause, trial, criminal conviction, etc. and have you never see them again.

Hell, they almost succeeded in contradicting the Supreme Court itself when they tried to kidnap Terri Schiavo, but they were stopped.

Well, I could understand outrage if the cops beat the girl, or threw her to the ground, but being that they did nothing more than their job, I see no problem other than the girls behavior. What ever happened to personal resonsibility in this country.

Blame the cops! Blame the teacher! Blame the parent! Just dont blame that poor little girl....

Does anyone remember the story awhile back about the boy that was suspended because the mother refused to spank him.

It is the childs fault. But kids will be kids. Adults should properly discipline them and teach them to respect authority. All children are criminals at heart so you have to assert your authority before you can be there friends.

I find it funny that pigs, er, cops are so brave and great, but it takes 3 of them to restrain a five year old. That girl's lucky she didn't get the Taser about 4 or 5 times...

If this was my kid, I'd thank the police officers for bringing my kid home to me. Then, I'd proceed to apply my own punishment. Now, the cops hitting my child is a different story. But, if they restrain my kid and put them in handcuffs, ill say thanks, can i return the cuffs tomorrow?

Please tell me where I said "blame the cops and no one else?" Really; if you can, I'll give you a dollar. I said ALL should be blamed; the kid for her behavior, the parent for the lack of home training, the teachers for not maintaining control, and the cops for using 3 adults to handcuff a child. There, I guess I have to spell it out for you.

Now, what do you say to that? How come you don't question those who place the blame squarely on the kid and/or parent? Why question me, when I say blame everyone to some extent?

i agree with the term ghetto trash i live in dallas which i belive from statistics has the highest crime rate in america or the world or something but i myself if my sister went to school and they called me when they cant reach my parents and told me she was acting bad i would drive up there ask what happened talk to the teacher if i find out my sister was out of line id beat her myself my dad later would tell my sister if u dont want to get hit dont act bad end of story. but in other schools if a kid is acting bad and has a hissy fit bam he calls in a bomb threat something i hate i wish they could trace who called and put him in jail and charge him with a terrorist act to scare him crapless then just say o we fake called you on a terrorist act but really were gonna put u in boot camp or something like that .
