Insane Airport Security Demands Penguins go through Metal Detectors

Yes folks Penguins!! Real, actual, live penguins were forced to walk through metal detectors in the Denver Airport on their way from San Diego.

Gee, I guess Penguins are on our most wanted terrorist lists. They do have that strange 'Gang' clothing on, and speak a foreign language. Hmm, something fishy is going on here....maybe they are speaking in code planning to blow up sea world. Stupid Airport security!!!!!

What a joke, most of these airport screeners are morons who hate their jobs. Instead of profiling Islamic men and woman at the airports, the government goes after everyone else, including penguins.

Thats Liberalism in action folks, is'nt it great? Its great that my white 84 year old Nana gets her luggage searched at LAX as well as a Pat-down....I slept so well that night, knowing that all those old caucasion ladies were being searched at our airports, way to go Uncle Sam!

Our Southern border is wide open, but we'll make sure those Grandma's get frisked at the airports.

Its idiocy like this that gave us 9/11.

I'm pretty sure all humans get screened at the airport, including Muslims.

As well, you must be speaking about Bush liberalism, because the repub-ruled White House and Congree helped bring about these changes, including the lax policy about our borders.

By the way, people are also patted down if they are buzzed at the metal detectors or if they might have drugs, or some other contraband on them. And older people are more inclined to have metal....parts in their body.

Just a few observations.

What's the problem, so what if they screened the Penguins are you that concerned so concerned to post about it?
And I agree all of the 9/11 hijackers were middle eastern and therefore we should focus more on middle eastern people while continuing to search everyone. I'm not a racist I'm just pointing out facts.

The fact is though, regarding this screening crap, it was instated to stop terrorists, now obviously, not all arabs are terorists, but most terrorists are arabs, its a fact, so why are we screening little old laddies and penguins..? little old ladies and penguins dont hijack aircraft... but we cant profile people these days cause it might "offend" someone.

Airport screening is not only for terrorism....It's also to prevent contraband. And while that little old lady may not look suspicious, if she doesn't pass the metal detector adequately, then she is searched just like everyone else.

the security screeners made them go through metal detectors because they felt the penguins posed a threat.

they are flightless birds.. so what better way to get home then to hijack a plane ?

If I have to sit beside a penguin on a flight, I want that bird to be screened. I want every piece of baggage checked and every baby walked through the metal detector. I want to feel safe when I fly......... Beware The Bird Bomb

Lol indeed. That made me laugh out loud. No matter who introduced it, no matter who demanded it be part of international customs, anytime it messes up its the liberals fault!

You must do stand-up, seriously.

A lot more time has been spent covering this here and elsewhere than was wasted by having the penguins going through security. Rules are rules, no matter how ridiculous they may seem when applied to a situation like this. I just wish the security scanner operators looking at the bags could be as efficient as the metal detectors.

Yeah, let's only search brown people! Because, you know, brown people MUST be terrorists...or at the very least criminals! Hell, we should just let old white people do anything they want! I mean, they walk slow and smell like moth balls, so there's no way they can possibly be of any threat. It takes a young and healthy brown person to be able to push a button! And old people have their whoooole life ahead of them, why would they want to participate in a suicide mission??

Jeez some of you people will do anything to knock airport security. Its all a big joke to you people security is only for certain people in your eyes.

That's almost laughable. While I will admit that the Bush Administration hasn't done nearly enough to secure our borders, it's still a lot more than what the Clinton Administration did. Do you know that there were weekends during the years Clinton was in office that not a SINGLE border patrolman was covering our entire border with Canada? Not a single one checking for illegals crossing through our shared forests or fields or lakes. What a joke!

Having said that, there is so much that needs to be done by both Republicans AND Democrats. Democrats have not been so marginalised that they can't put anything through Congress at all. If they cared so much about the borders then they'd have gotten something to at least come to a vote by now, which they haven't.

Those penguins should be happy that all they had to do was walk through a metal detector. They should thank their lucky fins that they weren't subjected to a cavity search! Ouch!

All 20 had brown skin and are Arabs. My point is why should a 84 year old white lady get shook down the same as a brown skinned Muslim?....racial profiling is what needs to happen here and if its a white or black guy with a Muslim name, jack them up also.

Well...

My take on this is, how easy would it be to operate and put in a bomb inside a penguin ?

I mean rules are rules and they must be followed, if they are not and a bomb was implanted in one of the birds, and it went off, killing many people. Then how many of you folks would have screamed bloody murder, on the airport security ( or Bush ) ??
