Two fast-moving brush fires erupted Tuesday in Los Angeles as dangerous wind conditions and unseasonably dry, warm weather sweep Southern California.

A currently over 770-acre fire in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood was first reported before 11 a.m. local time and quickly prompted evacuations across the region and into Malibu.

The Los Angeles Fire Department issued a mandatory evacuation order for the area from Merrimac Road west to Topanga Canyon Boulevard and south to Pacific Coast Highway. Those not under evacuation orders are being asked to shelter in place.

Major fire in Pacific Palisades Santa Monica area and other places!

Some say arson is possible.

High wind storms too making it horrible.

Not Good. Smoke and flames everywhere!

Breathtaking pictures in the article.

Here's a live report:

Hollywood is burning, literally.

People who were evacuating have abandoned
cars on the road. Bulldozers are moving the cars
out of the way to clear a path.

This is a worst case scenario!

This is already out of hand with the strongest winds still to come.
Steve at agendafree had great coverage as well as Firephotogirl on X who was on the scene very quickly and took some insane live footage here…

This is completely out of control.
The hillsides are ablaze and spreading through the canyons, jumping roads and firebreaks.
The planes can’t fly for long at night in these windy conditions.
House fires are spreading to neighbors houses now because there are no resources left to fight them all.
And the firefighters are letting HQ know, via scanner, that they are running out of water.
It’s just a straight up firestorm now.

“This is my last post for a little while. I don’t even know what to do anymore this place is getting wiped off the map. Absolute destruction every turn.”

The seasonal winds are well known. They even named it the Santa Ana Winds. The brush in that area is known to have fire as part of its natural growth cycle. I blame the local governments for letting anyone build anything there that cannot just let burn or is fully fireproof. A man made disaster at its worst. And they will expect insurance to build it back.

I hope everyone gets out but it will happen again. Nature always wins.

Officials put 95 Senior Citizens (including disabled in wheelchairs/beds) out in the parking lot of the Senior Citizen center, to protect them from the fire. (That's what the caption says) Because it's dark and smokey, I can't tell from the video if they're afraid, or just taking it in stride. They're Just sitting out there waiting for (?).

Good God is this fire ever bad, I really hope everyone can get out safely and when in a rush just take your "P's" and nothing else. Pets, Prescriptions, (important) Papers and Photos.

Sounding a lot like the Paradise fire in Northern California a few years ago.

Then again, given the property values involved, maybe it's more like the Napa/Sonoma fire several years before Paradise.

Prayers to those affected.

According to Fox News there are three separate fires and possibly a fourth that has not been verified yet.

At least one fire is spreading at about a football field per minute.

They have been running out of water in many locations.

30,000 people.under evacuation orders.

Some injuries but no deaths reported yet.

Winds expected to strengthen.

A lot of local officials on the news coverage are blaming the lack of removal of dead vegetation. They will be looking into how local ordances about removing dead vegetation, and how they were enforced, played a part in fueling these fires.
