Inexplicable military simulation - virtual reality showdown in the night.., page 1

Hi folks,

Just here to report a very weird situation which occurred last night. I was up very late, something like 3:40am, and I was reading a book online, 'the Lost Codex', a military/ancient manuscript caper/thriller, which was turning out to be quite good. I was very tired & found myself almost drifting into sleep but remaining just about awake.

Suddenly, I found myself standing in a tunnel system, in a desert environment, lots of sand on the floors. Everything was in black & white (usually my very vivid nightly dreams are in full colour). I found myself standing with a group of soldiers, holding a machine gun of some sort. We were ordered to chase & eliminate some targets who could be seen up ahead - so we chased, and we shot our highly realistic live rounds. There were the voices of commanding officers speaking while we were taking action, as though I was wearing a headset connected to the command HQ. I ran down the tunnels but my team ended up way ahead of me, I just couldn't go fast enough through the sand.

At one point the tunnel seemed to collapse in on me, and I had to restart the simulation from the beginning, without my team. I ran through the tunnel system, and found a large wooden box - I opened it through repeated layers of wood, but it was empty inside. I resumed the search for my team, but ended up in some underground pumping station type compound - the order came through the 'headset' that I had to flood the compound, so I attacked the controls - but I don't know if it worked, because at that point I became fully conscious of the room around me, and I was wide awake again - even though I knew this hadn't been a normal dream.

It was genuinely like I was in some virtual reality simulator, highly realistic, the sand was getting into my shoes even! This was the singularly most weird night time experience I ever had, most definitely not like a dream at all. As I came around, the name 'AlphaCode' came into my mind, as if through the invisible headset I had been listening to in the simulation. I ran an internet search & it came up as a programming aid, an AI system associated with Google's DeepMind programming enterprise. I don't know if there was any genuine correspondence to what that organisation does, but it seemed to be a hint that what I experienced was a 'real' event, a simulator created by an artificial intelligence under military control.

What made it stand out to me was that the commanding officers were talking exactly in the manner that commanders in the British SAS would talk about under-performing recruits - disparaging, mocking, but in quite a goodhearted manner. I was certainly under-performing in the simulation, it was like I was thrown into a video game that I didn't quite know how to play.

I don't know what it was all about, but as I said, it was the singularly most weird nighttime occurrence I've ever experienced. Just thought I'd share it with you all to gather some feedback, to see if anyone has heard of something similar before. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
