“You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23-24 ESV)

Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21 ESV)

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Yes, which god is asking?

The very fact that question is asked is admitting that other gods exist. But which one is asking?
Is it Yhwach, or any other other variants of spelling, that is the horned god of the the Canaanites? Is it Jesus which is literally translated son of Zeus? Is it Jehovah, which is Jupiter or Hercules which is a son of Zeus? Is it Christ, who is translated from Horus the son of Isis?

After God made man, man made god or gods in the image of man and wrote books saying so. All organized religions are man made and none have anything to do with God.

That forbidden NASA image is in the public domain, anybody can download it, and look at it.

I have seen images taken by spelunkers. It may be too late for me to flee idolatry. It's literally everywhere.

My TV has moving pictures on it. My smart phone and tablet both have picture screens and cameras on them. Oh, we are surrounded by he evil of pictures. No more cute kitten videos I guess.

Is text on picture screens allowed or must text only be printed?

Iconoclasts thought so, like the Puritans in England, during their short take over. Can a camera steal a soul? Maybe. If you watch a movie like Gone With The Wind and you see the ghost of Clark Gable, does that mean his soul is trapped on Earth rather than ascending to heaven? Or is it an image of someone in heaven or under the Earth? hmmm, weighty questions.


This is a detail of The Apotheosis of Washington, painted in the U.S. Capital dome. So does that mean that U.S. official religion includes veneration of Washington as a god? That's what apotheosis literally means, to deify.

In Romans chapter 2, verses 17-34, Paul is listing a bunch of Jewish hypocrisies. Of note is this verse 22 "...you who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege?". I sometimes wonder if Paul meant to remind Roman Jews that according to Torah, they are commanded to tear down all foreign temples and idols. But they weren't doing that.
