The United States has sent $3.4 billion in additional budget aid to Ukraine, giving the war-torn country critical resources amid intensifying Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Monday.

Yellen said in a statement the direct budget assistance, provided in coordination with the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department, marked the final disbursement under the 2024 Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act.

A U.S. official said the funding brings the total in U.S. budget aid to Ukraine to just over $30 billion since Russia'sinvasion in February 2022. Most of those funds are used to keep Ukraine's government running by paying salaries to teachers and other state employees.

Most of those funds are used to keep Ukraine's government running by paying unelected oligarchs while Ukranian men are thrown into the meat grinder.

Fixed that for you.

WTF does Ukraine need money for payrolls for????

Maybe because it's been invaded by Russia which has crashed it economy and it's ability to collect taxes?

Just a thought.

Proof and statistics might help your arguments.

🔐

looks like tax revenue and non-tax revenue has increased from 2022 to 2023 (as an example)

Also good to read the text rather than just the charts.

While tax revenue's took a understandable hit in 2022, the year of Russia's invasion, it has since risen once more above 2021 levels as the economy was adjusting and taxes rose to pay for the war effort, but also simply due to inflation. The Ukrainian parliament yesterday also increased the war-time tax of 1.5 percent to 5 percent, the biggest tax hike since the start of the conflict. Taxes on the profits of banks and other financial institutions also rose retroactively from the beginning of the year.

Ukraine has been forced by Russia to move to a war time economy and running a massive deficit as your own link shows, even after overseas support.

It’s our problem because we signed an agreement with them that we would help them defend themselves against invasion by Russia if they gave up their nuclear weapons. They did give them up, Russia invaded, so we’re keeping our end of the deal.

All this really begs the question why. It is not our responsibility to help them in this manner. Imagine if the aid to Israel was being used like this, the outcry would be deafening! But this is okay? How many threads have we seen where we have certain people telling us the Ukraine aid is all military equipment not costing us a dime? This comes after the warning from treasure secretary Yellen? We just had a tiff over the debt ceiling and then this comes to light? This right here is why the US is in such financial trouble! Unnecessary money flowing overseas!

The Biden administration has done everything they can to provoke Russia and prevent any kind of peaceful resolution.

Why are we spending billions to protect corrupt Ukraine from a Russian invasion and none for our own invasion?

America is no longer in a position to play the world police force. What little we had going for us Biden managed to squander with the full support of his cult following that refuse to look at facts.

Your idea of America is stuck in 1947.

We signed an agreement with them after funding a color revolution to install our selected leader in 2014. This was for the purpose of expanding NATO without technically expanding NATO.

They're not a part of NATO. We owe them nothing. These were Obama policies that Trump should and likely will disregard. That's why this funding package is being pushed through in Bidens last weeks in office.

Again, we owe them nothing.

The country is led by a former comedian who has a serious coke problem. It is as big a clown show as the Biden Admin. This is straight money laundering and it is fast and furious right now as the spigot is about to be closed.

We should not send cash we should send aid if needed. Food. Water. Clothing....but they do not need that do they?

Every buck to Ukraine is a bump in A LOT of Congressional portfolios.

Small flow chart:

Taxpayer money

Congress passes budget

Budget allows for cash, equipment and resources

US gets to empty it's stores, the MIC get to refill them

Congressional members invest strategically in MIC because it's legal to do so

Stocks go up, Congress cashes out

The more spending they approve, the more money they make on investments and side hustles. Even if it's mere crumbs in comparison to the total expenditure of the legislation, it still adds up nicely on a micro level for the individual.

There's really no incentive to "work" for the American people when it pays better to work for someone else.

Kamala was in Ukraine on a so called peace keeping mission 3 days before the war begun. She appears to have handled Ukraine just like she handled our border as Birder Tzar,

Is it even humanly possible to fail that miserably as a leader, without trully attempting to fail?

For the love of money is the root of all evil

I don’t get it. Billions to the Ukraine. Then in the area I live a community went without water for weeks because of a freak pump building accident / fire. No thought of calling up a national guard unit/ military unit with water pumping and treating trailers. So stupid.

I was in a conversation today about the accomplishments of this administration and neither of us could come up with anything that those two bleeps did that was good for the country. Harris’s appearance in Russia and the border came up as they were colossal failures like everything else they did.

We all know the border was intentional but as far as Russia….I’m thinking Harris gave Putin our blessing to invade.
