The van owner pissed off someone off that's all we know. Could be petty like got cut off in traffic or it could be personal, van owner started dating the man's ex wife. Most likely it's something petty that happened on the road or maybe he dinged the guys door when he opened his van door, hard to say.

You say a few people spoke up? What did the man do? I assume he just ignored everyone and left? If so why not just tell the van workers what happened or just kick the nail to the side so he doesn't get a flat

Carrying around 4" nails to do this is psychotic.

My nephews father collects nickels to flip out the window to crack windshields of drivers behind him that defy his will. (Way to pick em sis.. 🙄)

He calls it "grenading".🤷🏻

Don't worry, his son is well adjusted at least.

Nickels? Like $0.05 pieces? Wouldn't people see the guy flipping nickels out the window? You would have to have a good shot to hit the windshield

I have seen people do things like that in the past....disgusting. I have even heard of people poking holes in people's gas tank because they were pissed at them. People used to key cars too, at least that did not create a dangerous situation but still it was not right at all.

It is good that someone informed the people that it had happened, with a nail, it could go flat when they are on the highway and cause an action. There is a delay in the symptoms appearing.

If I saw someone do that, I would sit there and wait for the person to come out or call the cops.

I know there's no honor anymore in fighting, having grudges or having an on going dispute against someone but in my circle of friends from back in the day and the way I grew up there's 2 unwritten rules in feuds.

1) you never jump or beat someone up in public or anywhere when they are with their wife/girlfriend and or kids or parents (get them/confront them when they are by themselves or with their friends only)

2) you don't mess with a mans or women's car when they are not around to defend it. Scratching up someones car, popping their tire, doing other malicious things to a vehicle when the owner is away is just dirty and cheap. You just don't mess with a man's car.

This is a changing world. If they were caught and convicted, they would get a slap on the wrist and 'don't do it again.' Without any meaningful deterrent, this madness will continue to happen. a reply to: theatreboy

I have never messed with someone's car. But being that I have known a real lot of people when I was in my twenties, I knew of some people who did do that, not friends but just acquaintances. I only had about a hundred friends I was pretty close to during my twenties, but must have had a thousand people I knew during those years. Real close friends maybe thirty, they were not people who would do stuff like that either.

I even knew people who were fighters, they liked to fight, but the majority of them just fought amongst others that liked to fight. None of them would probably screw with someone's car, that was not their desire, they liked to fight with other guys, and some women were also fighters...I learned never to try to break up a cat fight....they both attack you then go drink together in the bar while you lick your scratch wounds. Beware of women with long fingernails.

Seems like there has been a major increase in people who would key a car or sabotage it now, I think that is wrong. I hear about this stuff happening more often around here these days. And it is not attributable to social media that I hear this, stuff spread by mouth and phone years ago faster than on facebook. Everyone knew what happened in smaller towns years ago. Now people are talking about events three states away, that has little bearing on what happens in the Upper Peninsula but people now believe it has from hearing all the fear mongering on the internet.

I am sure you are aware of the changes in your area, I am just saying I am noticing more of this behavior here too, it seems to be happening in lots of areas.

Sounds like one of my neighbours. We have a drive which takes one car, the other is parked over the road. In a small village. The tw@ts over the road have no drive but seem to think the road is theirs, which it isn't.

So I park over the road. A public road.

I have had stupid anonymous notes left on my car, tyres let down and nails in my tyres.

Payback is going to be epic.

People do it partly because they know even if they are caught, the police will do nothing.

It's treated as a prank.

It costs the person hundreds of dollars and could kill someone but it's treated by police as a harmless practical joke.
