Rest in peace Jimmy.

The thing that always impresssed me the most about Jimmy Carter was his love and devotion for his wife.

May he RIP.

That's probably why he waited so long!

I used to say Obama would make Jimmy Carter look like Ronald Reagan, but I was wrong. It was Biden who made Carter look like Reagan.

I agree, RIP Jimmy Carter. You might not have been our best president, but you were an honorable and decent man (unlike the current criminal hack-in-chief).

He was lucky to live to be a hundred without too bad health problems. I consider it a blessing that his future suffering has come to an end. There are worse things than dying. RIP president Carter.

Not the best person in the seat, but the most honorable one to sit in it through recent history.

Maybe that’s why he wasn’t as effective, because you could put him in a room, and more times than not he probably had more character than anyone in there. He was even the type that I don’t think he was competitive about that. I believe there are just certain people who feel the need to help like an affliction. They see the state of the world and can’t rest until that has changed.

Whether or not his presidency is reflected in history well, I think he has more legacy that most who shared the chair.

RIP Jimmy, and I hope his family finds peace too.

Before my time as president so I don't have a feeling on that personally. From what I know of him however, he was a very good person and kept that up throughout his life. Was married for 77 years and decided to stop treatment for an undisclosed illness last year. I can't say as I blame him, don't want to live without your other half, and 100 is a damned good run in general. RIP.

Jimmy Carter was a compassionate and gifted president. If there were more politicians and world leaders like him while he was president, the world would be a much better place today. God Speed Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer with a degree in nuclear physics who ran on the idea of more transparency in government after the Nixon debacle.

He won the Presidency because he had no idea about what politics was about and he proved that as President.

He was an amazing person with a good heart and was horrible as an American President.

I admire him as a person and what he did after.

But he was just bad as a President.

That takes nothing away from the amazing things he did in his life.

RIP, Jimmy.

I thought it was a Batchelor of Science degree that he had, but was on nuclear subs during his Naval career.

I remember watching Carter working to help build these homes for the poor in Michigan, back in 2005.

Photos: www.gettyimages.com...

It was hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that this is a former President of the United States and First Lady, carrying wood, and installing aluminum siding. Doing it for real...not for photos.

Really pleased to see so many people recognise and acknowledge what a decent and honourable man Jimmy Carter was.
Sure, he was naive but as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, if more politicians had his morals and ethics I think the world would be a better place.

He was the first president I can remember and remains one of my faves, despite a lot of people having a negative impression of him.
Always came across as a gentleman, rather unlike recent presidents have...

Nice man.
Lousy president.
He was the first POTUS I voted for.
I was just a teenager at the time.
Now I know better.
But anyways ... nice man.
Hope he and his wife were reunited and together forever.

you know he did wait way to long to go get the hostages. but he didn't have anything to do with the planning nor the actual exercising of the plan other than giving the go ahead after hearing out all his advisors.

the blame for the plan failing should rest on the commanders heads and not his. the blame for them being there for almost a year and a half should fall on him for waiting so long.

he wasn't the best president, and the 2nd worst president.
