I don't have the statstics on hand and to be honest would know where to look for them, but obviously it's an issue or they wouldn't be wasting money,
time and effort on it.
I mean the last four years or so it's been pretty heavy handed and almost non-stop on several social media platforms.
Even here on ATS, there was a period of time where the Gender Spectrum was a hot button topic for several years.
A lot of New Parents might be interested in this type of study when their child doesn't fit the "mold" or expectation when they reach a certain age
and begin communicating certain ideas, preferences of toys and dress, etc that don't fit the tried and true male and female interest sets.
I can't have kid myself for several reasons I won't get into, but the foundation of child psychology remains pretty much the same, but since Psych is
a "soft science" and constantly evolving, there's bound to be new developments as Human Evolution does it's thing.
Personally, I am of the opinion that the Newer Generations are expereincing these gender expressions because the Population of folks in the US is
rising dramatically, urban sprawl is a thing trying to compensate for more "traditional family units" where multiple children are seen as a sign of
virility and the old koan of "go forth and multiply".
Statstics are showing that in First World Countries and in certain Castes that one child is preferable, and that child may be more empathic,
sensitive, intelligent, hyper-verbal/non verbal, gender explorative, etc...the rise in autistic non verbal children cannot be dismissed, and playing
with dolls and having a variety of images and choices to choose from in a playtime environment is more apt to show certain characterstics or models of
tolerance and interest towards certain concepts or ideologies.
Plus, enrolling a child showing unusual behaviors in a University study is usually cheaper than buying every child rearing book under the sun in an
attempt to self-diagnose their offspring, as most parents have to go to work and are on budgets and the University Study doubles as daycare in some
areas with the added benefit of psychoanalysis and peer review.
I understand the caution and concern a lot of more Traditonal folks have about such things, because sadly, in the past, there have been
"psychologists" who have done horrible things to children in the name of "science" in order to satisfy their personal pet theories and ideas of
conditioned and ingrained behaviors, to the detrmient of not only the psyche of the child participants, but Society at large.
It's always good to be cautious, but in light of the recent interest of certain segments of the populace pushing an "adult agenda" on children with
intent to groom them by younger and less experienced "psychologists" and "gender studies majors" it definitely opened an avenue of discussion that
lingers to this day.
Time marches on, and with it, so must everything else.
The bet thing we can do is stay Vigilant and Aware, and try to be as Understanding as possible of these children as they work through their New Lives
and Life Explorations, especially in cases where the child is shown to be hyper-sensitive and empathic, as not everyone under the sun is gonna be a
roughhouse meat and potatoes kind of guy or a standard Mother to Be in a Traditional Household.
Oh, Brave New World!
