This is incredible and not sure how this could actually happen. Glad the pilots are safe.

Both pilots were recovered alive after ejecting from their stricken aircraft, with one suffering minor injuries. But the shootdown underlines just how dangerous the Red Sea corridor has become, with ongoing attacks on shipping by the Iranian-backed Houthis despite U.S. and European military coalitions patrolling the area. The U.S. military had conducted airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Houthi rebels at the time of the friendly fire incident, though the U.S. military’s Central Command did not elaborate on what the pilots’ mission was and did not respond to questions from The Associated Press.

A mistake?
An Inside Job?
A foreign entity?
A drone?

Seriously, the US almost lost 2 naval airman to a missile being fired from a Destroyer that is part of the battle group they flew from. What really happened here?

Could just be as simple as run 10s of thousands of combat flight missions and a small handful of mistakes will happen.

It’s incredibly rare in this context, so maybe it’s not always a nefarious conspiracy.

Training exercises happen all the time. I understand that. There will always be friendly fire incidents in combat. Another country could accidentally shoot down an aircraft of another's or commercial. It has happened.

I am not saying it is nefarious. I am not saying it is not. I just find it very odd that it 'could' happen as described.

the Canadians
