Ahead of the Zhuhai Air Show in China, an international aerospace trade show organized by the Beijing administration, a drone mothership concept has been spotted at the event’s grounds.

The drone mothership, which is said to have a maximum takeoff weight of 10 tons, could have the capability to launch drone swarms in the air.

The drone, Called Jiu Tian, which stands for ‘High Sky’ in Chinese, is powered by jet engines. Its design is by the government-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

if our current drone wave was West Coast I'd wonder if a test run.
we'll have to keep our eyes on Asia and see if they get any drone swarms.

so how many drones can a system control? preplanned flight paths? automatic defense protocols? IFF?
one more question; are we working on something like this?

oh, and can it be hacked?

That article is from before the airshow. Any updates on this?

I would not call it a drone mothership as much as a drone swarm delivery unit. I don't think they can recover the swarm with that design. The swarm drones are most likely disposable drone bombs. Quite effective ether way.

Clever humans are making it too easy for skynet to win the war.

Not going to work a Mothership would have to be slow or stationary to launch smaller drones' way too easy to shoot down, Aircraft carriers would be better suited.

Feels like a big waste of resources.

Without Protoss shields, the drone swarm is just as vulnerable as a hornets’ nest on the Hindenburg.

We are gonna have to wait for some kind of StarCraft technology to advance before us Terrans are able to utilize such a dreadnaught as a war machine.

Just my two pennies.

It seems the USA already has the drone swarm part. Aircraft launchable even. NOAA uses them in hurricanes from 10 years ago.

We probably already have larger drones for delivery systems. But like I said, a delivery drone not a mother ship or carrier. No recovery.

Found the NOAA video looking for drop sond release. YouTube doesn't understand it has nothing to do with music.

I'm not an authority on relations with China but this is just a little weird to me.

I mean, first off, it sounds like an impressive undertaking...maybe for scuttles alongside Allied Forces in Combat Zones against Hostile Forces?

Oh Strange New World!

In January/Feb 2023, we let China's giant balloon carry a weapons platform over the USA for a week without doing anything to it, until it was over the Atlantic ocean.

China could be now be testing us with drone incursions from a "mothership" of some kind. Air or sea borne.
