No way. If people go, they take human nature with them. Nothing will change.

Fair. I did say the clothes on your back. I'd be taking some Red Wings work boots myself.

I guess it wasnt as funny in real life as it sounded in my head.....

It was a Heaven's Gate reference.

No worries. I let the "Aliens" movie reference go over my head too.

My fault, not you guys.

first two were the best, i give them 2
with 5 stars, the next five, 2
and 4 1/2 stars. Prometheus 2
with 5 stars, haven't seen Alien: Romulus yet, i'm to cheap to pay what they want for tickets, or pay for most streaming servces. i'll wait till someone which more than likely won't be much longer runs it on tv or a streaming service for free.

Whichever you choose, human nature goes with you. Eventually, what you go to will become what you left behind.

In this scenario, we know the aliens are beneficent as you indicate. We know that this is not a trick but rather they want to help the human race try again, I think. Right? Knowing I guess that left alone to our own trajectory the cliff is now before us.

In this case we can assume also that the migrants will likely have sense of participation in the goals of the experiment, because an experiment is what it would be. In this we can also assume that lazy people will not decide to make the leap. Ill people either or simply self serving people. Oh or old people like me. Were I young, in my twenties I think I would, knowing that I would be working with other people of similar skill and sacrificial levels in the endeavor.

I like the idea of no randos.Better the assembly of people to take the best of what they consider to be our knowledge of human success and failure and construct societies that the forming groups believe to be attainable.

How many people in a tribe. One hundred? Five hundred? What do you think. And how many groups to be tactically implanted into the new planets ecosystem. A dozen maybe, more?

We'd need people with curiosity, wisdom, experience, and advice. So yeah it's not just for the 20 year olds.

Everyone is welcome.

But yeah there'd have to be a way to deal with laziness or ill intent

You are a few epochs of history late. The ETs have many times worked to shape humanity into it true purpose, but being physical beings inclined to recreate ourselves in materialized form and comfort, we have not had any lasting effect on the general run of humanity. In short, the experiment has failed. We constantly and contently believe our own narrative, and follow it, without fail.

Only a few years ago, we considered ourselves the masters of the Universe. Now, we are lowly creatures incapable of a
simple understanding because it hurts so much. Many civilizations have existed on earth prior to these times. They were far less inclined to push Nature beyond its normal bounds, and yet they are all gone, disappeared entirely except for stone structures that silently speak of a lost of wisdom. The "Heaven," in some eyes, was intended to be right here.

To bring this high talk all home, consider this. The world is currently beset by three powers that wish to control it all: Russia, China, and the US. Where is there a contented settlement possible without various levels of conflict? Fingers continually hover over red buttons. Today's threats to the very existence of most all life on earth is possible in a flash of atomic light. Would visiting aliens want to settle down the willing, welling and struggling egos to suit everybody's fancy? Probably not. Wipe the slate clean and start over...again.

I would go Im bored as hell here and I'd be fine without my electronics but sending us to live like some Stone Age tribe?

It's the opposite of advancement; we would spend all our time hunting and gathering water and sustenance—I mean, every waking moment. Are we hunting with rudimentary spears? or are we just baconless vegetarians?

Nothing wrong with it but it would depend on the resources at hand, hell what percentage of humans would be screwed if we plopped them down in 20th-century American farmhouses with crops, livestock, and a functioning well. This sounds significantly less than that.

Where in the hell is my coffee and bacon egg and cheese biscuit coming from?

Want to know what happens? Please look at the "experiment" of the Pilgrim Fathers. They volunteered to leave their safe homes for an unknown world.
What if the aliens arrived and with the help of all the BSing climate disaster theorists (sorry I mean liars) convinced all humans that the Earth was going to fail completely in say 10 years time. Therefore they have come to rescue us all, so the choice is, go with them or die?
But really they only want our world emptied so they can live here without humanity.
Nothing like a complacent and compliant population thinking they are being saved but really they are being led to the gas chambers.

According to scripture, UFOs are operated by angels and demons so choose wisely. My advice would be to take the less appealing choice, as the demons will exaggerate and tell you where they're taking you will be more wonderful than the perfect paradise containing your deepest and most exotic desires, only to take you to the sunny side of Mercury in their big beautiful ship to horse kick you out at the surface.

You can stay on earth as it is right now, or go bare bones and start a new colony with a bunch of randos. That means you'll have to hunt, fish, forage, build shelters, make your own tools etc. You can retain all your knowledge you just have to go and rebuild it all from scratch on another world. You can't take anything with you but your memories and the shirt on your back.

It all sounds like a romantic event, and I have had conversations with people in the past where they said we had much more freedom back 100s of years ago and all I could do is laugh at the thought. You are going to be working every waking moment trying to survive and most likely you will still fail and die in a few years.

I was thinking the same as I live about 40 miles from James Town. I suggest anyone here to go read about them and get back to us.

Good ol Marshall Applewhite. I remember that well. One of those sumbiches pranked me and gave me a Styrofoam cup of fruit punch instead of Hale-Bopp Berry.

Technically it was social media and the internet that got us to this point to begin with. It would be a long time before that happened again. Though my biggest interest would be finding out what kind of materials the new planet had. There might be a material we could use to create real hoverboards.

I use my sister's Prime account for movie stations since she pays for a lot of them and I watched Romulus when she bought it. It was good as far as action and edge of your seat scenes but not nearly as good as the original, plus Weaver wasn't in it and that sucked. You'd probably give it 3 stars or less according to your other ratings.
