In fact, it appeared to him that the mud was wobbling as it was infested by millions of strange black worms that had a rainbow like sheen that occasionally caught light as they throbbed and wiggled.

As he looked more closely, he could see that a small kitten was peering over the top of the bucket.

Casually turning it’s gaze in his direction, Douglas felt a thrill of recognition course through his body; the kitten chewed casually on her prey.
