Let's see, it was about 6 months ago I said we were in the early stages of world war and you said that was nuts etc, etc and I said it would continue slow brewing until it finally bubbled over. Here we are 6 months later and nothing seems to have cooled down, in fact things are consistently getting hotter. Let's see where we are 3 - 6 - 9 months from now. There are two trajectories-- escalation or de-escalation. If conditions remain escalatory, I think the end result is obvious.

It certainly has the potential to head that way but we're a long way off China getting involved and NATO direct involvement and boots on ground against Russia, China, Iran, NK vs SK, China vs US Taiwan etc...

The current style of conflict has gone on since pre-Roman times and across the world from end of WW2 to '91 and more recently with Afghanistan, Iraq, Arab Spring etc...none of which turned into world wars so is far more likely to peter out rather than dramatically escalate.

There was direct fighting between US and Russian troops in Syria when Trump was President after Russian troops openned fire on them but Russia said there were no troops in area when US official checked so the US wiped them out and randg Russia back to confirm there no longer any troops there - that incident escalated no further despite posing much higher WW3 risk.

Well, that explains why all we've been hearing about in western media for the past 24 months has been about Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas. Because Syria has been "escalating" into WW3 whole time, right?

What's it called again? Oh yeah..."doom porn".

Yes we've been hearing about the Russia-Ukraine (US proxy) war. Don't forget about the conflict between Iran and Israel. And you don't see any overlap into Syria? You think Syria is just a random, isolated, unrelated incident?

It appears we have a new twist with Assad making overtures to Israel in exchange for removing the IDF from Syria. Who is on whose side as the geopolitical melee forms is anyone's guess. I can see Erdogan being an assassination target has he seems to be doing his own thing.

Assad's got his hands tied now Israel is in Lebanon. Hezbollah (plus others) saved him during the revolution and lost thousands of fighters in doing so. Will Israel now continue with the ceasefire in Lebanon knowing full well Hezbollah will commit to saving Syria if they do so? Interesting times ahead.

The Israelis are really setting a president for assassination of their opposition, they had better watch it does not come back to bite them. In the past is has seemed to be a no no.

What did Assad do so wrong, to get himself forcefully removed from power like this?
